The cast includes William Hurt, Mimi Rogers, Heather Graham, Lacey Chabert, Matt LeBlanc and Gary Oldman. This movie has some very good things to enjoy. The cast is pretty good with Hurt delivering as the father of the family and Oldman having a ball as Dr Smith. The cemistry between LeBlanc and Graham is difficult to believe though. The special effects are hit and miss. The space action scenes look very good and are often exciting but the CG-animated creatures look very cheap and unrealisitic.Director Stephen Hopkins (Predator 2) does a pretty useful job but is let down by a very poor script. This movie begins very well but loses its way towards the end with the introduction of time travelling. Its a real shame because the cast deserved better and there could have been an interesting franchise here if just a few more things worked on this movie. Very hit and miss unfortunately.
