The Time Traveler's Wife is based on the best-selling book about a love that transcends time. Clare (Rachel McAdams) has been in love with Henry (Eric Bana) her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated. Henry is a time traveler - cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Despite the fact that Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, Clare desperately tries to biuld a life with her one true love.

 Brilliantly disturbing

It takes a lot to get me out to the cinema. My wife had read the book and couldn't stop talking about the story so......
This is not a story about time travel as such but of the loving relationship and complex problems that Henry (Eric Bana) and Clair (Rachel McAdams) face as Henry is unwittingly catapulted backwards and forwards along his own time line.
The film opens with Henry working in a librery, Clair approaches him, for her they have met many times before, for him it's the first time, this is a love story that cannot unfold and develop in the usual way, what the film dose is to show that a relationship can survive under the most bizarre circumstances.
The film explores topics that affect couples all over the world, death and illness, infertility and infidelity but in an almost insane way that leaves the viewer almost no time to take breath.
The film is based on the first novel by Audrey Niffenegger who by her own admission has not and will not watch the film as she would find it too disturbing. The good news is she is now writing her second novel that I'm sure will make into an equally fine and thought provoking film.
This is a film that will be going straight into my collection and is one of the finest narrative stories I have experienced, wonderfully acted and wonderfully directed with a brilliant supporting cast including Stephen Tobolowsky who plays a rather hard to convince Dr. Kendrick who tries to treat Henry for his "chrono genetic disorder"

 Trailer is decieving

When you watch the trailer you think that might be a good film to buy but when you watch the film its not sorry i thought there wasnt much in the story and parts of the story just dont add up if anyone is reading this i would buy something else its a waste of money

although the concept of 'time travel' is not a new idea, i expect many will remember 'h.g.wells's tale 'the time machine' which was a futuristic tale, however though very different this film actually works.
the film creeps up on you, you'll suddenly find that something you are not sure about, is being enjoyed by all.
it tells of 'henry' who without any control disappears, and then shows up at a different time, he see's things in the lives of those he meets at an earlier time, but cannot change what happens for the better.
he meets his future wife as a child, and slips in and out of her life for many years.
this is a pleasant tale that will capture your imagination, it is, with a difference....a love story and will pull at your 'heart-strings'

 to sum up....

And here it is, the sum up of The Time Travellers Wife..... My wife, although intelligent and astute didn't get it!!!! I mean she understood it but the ultimate girly movie failed to move her and she just kept asking, 'well is he old or young now as the difference wasn't that defineable' That said I got it and the only moving element for me was removing it from the played to put another film in. Allright but not great.

 from Jennysman -poor Blu-ray transfer

An interesting new concept of time travel which throws up too
many inconsistancies. How can a man interact with himself as a
younger person in previous years? Suppose he decides to kill his
younger self- the future is unchangeable presumably.
This is one of the poorest Blu-ray transfers I have seen.
Quite a few dark 'muddy' looking scenes without the sharper
definition we have come to expect from Blu-ray. I should have
bought the standard DVD and saved a few pounds.
