She'll change your life.

Amelie Poulain (Audrey Tautou) is a young woman who glides through the streets of Paris: observing. With wide eyes and a tiny grin, she sees the world in a magical light, discovering minor miracles every day. A shy girl whose favorite moments are spent alone skimming stones into the water, Amelie was raised by a pair of eccentrics who falsely diagnosed her with a heart problem at the age of six and so limited her exposure to the outside world. Now a free and independent woman, Amelie wears a bob that curls in every direction and dresses in red. With a job in a cafe and an aptitude for spying on her neighbors, Amelie entertains herself by enacting a series of homemade, kindhearted practical jokes.

Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (who co-directed 'Delicatessen' and 'The City Of Lost Children' with Marc Caro) presents 'Amelie', a gorgeous and inventive film

This is not a movie which will suit all tastes. It's quirky, idiosyncratic and often surreal appearance, which reveals itself instantly, will put off many but if ever it was time to free your mind and open up to a new experience then there are few options which can better this French breakaway hit.

Helmed by one of cinemas true auteurs Jean-Pierre Jeunet, we bare witness to one of the most beautiful films ever created which can rightly hold its head high among legends like "It's a Wonderful Life", feel-good movies so full of charm that they leave you feeling awash with a warming glow.

The visuals are incredible, this is a true work of art with kaleidoscopic colour tones and dreamlike imagery. Cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel received a well deserved Oscar nomination. I struggle to think of another movie which is equally as beautiful in both visuals and feeling.

Why Hollywood sought out Jeunet to direct "Alien Resurrection" is beyond me, this is the framework where his talents are best served. You know that you are in the hands of a true "artiste" who produces moments of genius.

Quirky, gorgeous, heart-felt, satisfying and above all faultless.

The transfer..................

Momentum Pictures have granted this feature with an MPEG-4 AVC encoded, 2.35:1 framed, 1080p transfer onto a 50GB Blu-ray Disc of exceptional quality.

Colour is the order of the day and this transfer handles the bursting pallet with ease. We are met with a greenish tint to the proceedings but are thrown every colour under the rainbow. The contrast and Colour timing are spot on which is so important for this films visual style and flair.

Blacks are strong and inky with great delineation and definition. Detail is tremendous. Textures and fabrics look incredible with accurate skin tones. Outlines and edges are very well rendered and sharp.

We do not suffer any issues with compression or digital artifacting.

Knowing how visually stunning this movie was I was delighted that the transfer lived up to it. Fantastic.

Movie 5/5 Transfer 5/5.
