Although it takes a few episodes to get up and running The Borgias eventually begins to pull it's threads together to tell the story of the first Borgia Pope in the fifteenth Century.
Power, murder, sex, lust, money and influence all vie for various characters affections along the way with a good cast led by Oscar winner Jeremy Irons as the central figure. Even if some of the themes feel familiar and the plot takes some melodramatic turns along the way it remains enjoyable enough.
Good production values enhance the look of the series as well, which obviously looks nice and shiny on Blu-ray. There are various small featurettes and extras along the way as well, including screen tests, interviews etc.
