Chronicle (Exclusive Steelbook) (With Bonus Digital Copy) (Blu-ray)

No one would say i was a fan of these "teens with powers" films but i was pleasantly surprised.
After being disappointed by films like i am number four, or the very poor covenant i was not expecting much from this but i was entertained for most of the film. The story line was pleasing and some of the effects were great. it also managed to pull off the "what would you do?" question successfully.

Looking at the bigger picture, its a film you forget after you've seen it but for a short 80 or so minutes, it will keep you entertained

a really good story in well executed, the only problem was it is very short and it could have been much better. still enjoyable.

The greatest movie to watch from this year, comes with Dutch subtitles! (unmentioned on Play.com or on the sleeve of the steelbook!!)
So for all Dutch buyers, don't wait any longer for a German or Dutch release! Buy this one.

As for the movie (both versions ar on the disc): personally the biggest surprise of the year. Trailers told me it could be a great fun movie, but it also could go wrong. But it didn't!!

Chronicle managers to stretch the bounderies of the found footage theme to new dimensions. The first thing that grabbed me was how well written the roles were as a teenage social outcast and his two new friends find a something very strange in a underground cave. This gives them superpowers, but there is always a price to pay as what at start is a gift ends up being a curse as the outcast uses his new powers to get revenge on the ones who bullied and humiliated him. For a low budget film the effects are great and the script is very smart and funny at the beginning turning much darker in tone towards the end. The Blue Ray also contains the slightly superior extended cut to what is hopefully the start of a franchise. Chronicle does live up to the hype.
