The year: 1879. The place: Natal, Africa. One British garrison has already fallen to a huge army of Zulu tribesmen. The fearless native warriors are now heading for the isolated colonial outpost of Rorke's Drift, which is manned by no more than a hundred South Wales Borderers.

A stirring tale of courage under fire, Zulu boasts fine performances from Michael Caine and Stanley Baker as conflicting British officers, and an unforgettable rendition of "Men of Harlech".

after defeating the british army at 'isadndiwana' killing 1200 servicemen along with several hundred african back-packers and guides, the zulu army turned it's attention to the mission at 'rorke's drift'
there were 100 regulars at 'rorke's drift' largely made up of welsh engineers who were about to face 4000 zulu warriors.
the 100 prevailed against overwhelming odds.
' lt john chard' commanded the small force with 'lt gonville bromhead' second in command.
11 victoria crosses were issued as a result of the outstanding bravery shown ' january 22nd -23rd 1897 which included seriel melingerer 'private henry hook' in no other single encounter have so many VC's been awarded.
this remains one of my all-time favourite movies which i first saw around 50-years ago.....surely standing the test of time, along with giving legendry actor 'micheal caine' his first screen role.
steelbook edition...........great collector's item.

this is a story of how we defended rocks drift and one of the best war movies ever made.the steelbook is a nice/welcome edition and the picture has a great transfer considering the vintage of it..
it carrys the same extras from the dvd special edition which are plenty.
micheal caine gives one of his best performances and all the rest of the cast are used to their limits..
