From acclaimed filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski, creators of The Matrix Trilogy, and Tom Tykwer, director of Run Lola Run, the powerful and inspiring sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.

THis is one of those 'Marmite' films. When I went to the pictures having no idea of what to expect I almost walked out after half-hour, It seemed to make no sense,be disjointed and difficult to engage with...HOWEVER..perseverance is a must and how rewarding it is. Each story is neatly expanded and tidied up by the end leaving the viewer with quite a task. That is because the delight lies in reflecting on what you have just seen and just how damned clever and thought provoking it is. The fun lies in watching each story develop to its end. The overall concept is both brave and amazing having a small group of actors playing key characters from the different storylines, even daring to have them playing different gender/races.Furthermore it manages to mix it up quite magnificently.Never have I witnessed such extreme violence and slapstick comedy, together with serious ethical questions and amazing sci-fi concepts spanning such a huge timeline. This is a film that will be so enjoyable to revisit and watch again. I for one cannot wait to immerse myself oncemore. Full credit to Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant ( brave choice for him! ) ,Jim Broadbent ( always quality from him), Hugo Weaving ( scary as a female) and all the others in this amazing film.

This might be the best film in the world...

...but nobody will ever know. All the dialogue from Tom Hanks and Halle Berry is mumbled, so mumbled and incomprehensible. The accents are terrible. Great idea but perhaps executing such an idea is a little too brave and over ambitious. The whole thing is so disjointed and would make six much better separate films.
P.S. I don't like the Marmite analogy. Everyone says you either love it or hate it. I just quite like it.

This is an Amazing film! Superbly shot! Special Effects faultless! A film that will move you and will certainly enjoy. This is a very different and interesting film with a complicated plot. If you are easily confused, or find complicated plots hard to follow then this is not for you!!

All in all this really is amazing!

A stunning and hard to categorise film taking the viewer through key characters moments across civilisation's and centuries in time. Visually stunning and well performed throughout this is well worthy of the near 3 hours running time to watch.
Blue ray sound and picture is stunning also with plenty of extras to watch post movie. Buy it!
