The Godfather Trilogy: The Coppola Restoration (4 Discs) (Blu-ray)

I was really looking forward to the Blu-ray release of the Godfather films. Unfortunately, picture quality is not noticeably better than a standard DVD and is grainy in a lot of scenes. If you already own the Coppola Restoration on DVD, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to Blu-ray if you think it will have superior picture quality. You may end up disappointed like me. The films are of course fantastic and under normal circumstances, this would get the five stars, but I'm going to minus one for the disappointing picture quality.

Unfortunately there is an error with the Godfather Part II disc which causes it to jump/skip. I have looked it up on the Internet and this appears to be a common problem with the set (a bad batch apparantly have been produced). Play were superb with dealing with the refund though.

First, the movies are excellent... The only gripe i had throughout the years of owning it on dvd was the picuture quality and as part 2 was so long, you would have to load the 2nd disc half way through.

Having now got this version on blu, i was amazed at how they have restorted this movie.

Ok, it is not going to be demo material, but the picture now to what it was previously is amazing. The original source material was badly damaged or even lost in some places and a lot of money went into what was done to restore it.

The extras are also great, with 90% in blu ray, also on a seperate disc, so this is a 4 disc box set. In one of the segments, it shows how they actually restored the picture frame by frame, was very interesting and will show you how bad the picture used to be.

If you love the movies then this is really an essential purchase. I am very pleased with this and feel i can now watch the trilogy in how it was supposed to have been presented to us.

does anyone have the same problem with the godfather 2???? it freezes/skip/jump approximately in the middle (1h 41min?)

The quality is good the sound is even better.. about the films.. one word...classic.The problem for the greek buyer is this..if you look here in play.com about the trilogy it says clearly that it has greek subtitles..Ok now listen this:None of the three films has subtitles except the fourth disc with the extras!!!!The choice is your's...
