The Notebook (Blu-ray)

This is without doubt one of the hidden romantic gems of modern day cinema with the very first breathtaking opening scene shining onto blu-ray as a picturesque North Carolina sunset on the waterfront.Rachel Mc Adams (Allie) and Ryan Gosling(Noah) enter a rags to riches summertime relationship with teenage love in this enthralling romantic film made up of two teenagers one whose parents are rich the other a log cutter whose backgrounds are world apart but who nevertheless fall deeply in love in a summertime romance cut short with Allie's parents who disapprove of her love for Noah....James Garner(from the Rockford Files) and Gena Rowlands look back on a story that is told of innocent teenage love,upper class bigotry, and a couple who are destined to love each other so much that fate keeps them apart....The lead roles are played to perfection and comes very highly Recommended as The Notebook has some hidden twists to a fantastic Romantic tale and looks both bright and crisp on blu-ray with some fantastic North Carolina scenery....

If you`ve never heard of this film all the reviews here and everywhere else you`ll look will ALL agree that this is one of the best romantic films ever made!

Go look at the best selling dvd`s charts over the last 12 months and you will see that this is the highest selling film, so all these 1000`s and 1000`s of people who have brought it cant be wrong then can they!

So buy it now and I`m a bloke and as one other reviewers here already said. "It`s not just a chick flick". But in saying that if you`re a hardboiled testosterone filled male, go buy something else and leave us romantics alone with our cleanex!!!

A lot of people may class this as "chick flick" but I completely dissagree, I`ve just watched this today with my wife and I was almost in tears. From the beautiful opening sequence you are sucked in, 1080P is essential to get the best of the experience. Fantastic acting and storyline, its moving, shocking, and right up until the amazing ending you`ll be hooked, I highly reccomend that every couple watches this, its definitely a "couple flick" in my opinion. If you havent seen it I also reccomend "The Time Travellers Wife" also starring Racheal McAddams. This is now one of my fave films and an absolute bargain in the 2 for 18 pounds

I am not particularly a great fan of romantic films, there are a few exceptions for me and that is Titantic, Atonement & the best of the lot in my opinion The Notebook. A really likeable cast that grips you straight from the start, I have been trying to find a film that has the same effect on me but cannot find one so for me this is a stand out classic out there on it's own. If you like great love stories then you won't be dissapointed with The Notebook.
