The Crow set the standard for dark and violent comic-book movies, but it will forever be remembered as the film during which Brandon Lee was accidentally killed on the set by a loaded gun.

Devil's Night is for rock star Eric Draven and his girlfriend Shelley, the night they meet their brutal demise at the hands of the inner city's most notorious characters. Exactly a year later, Eric is brought back to life and granted the powers of superhuman strength and vision in order that he may seek vengeance on those who killed him - all under the watchful eye of a mysterious crow. One by one Eric seeks out the gang, who are out for another evening of mayhem and violence, unaware of the fate that awaits them.

Great film, worst Blu Ray so far.

I had this great film on video, then DVD, which had an excellent 5.1 DTS soundtrack. Saw this for £9.99 elsewhere and thought I would take a gamble. The reviews on play.com were mixed. I have a top of the range Sony 1080P TV. Needless to say although the box says 1080P True HD, it does play the film in 1080i. The picture is worse than DVD. At least on DVD my Denon player can upscale the picture to similar to 1080p, but 1080i, especially when the box advises differently is appalling! Entertainment In Video (who did a great job with The Departed) should be shot. Needless to say I have sent it back. The soundtrack is bog standard DTS, same as the DVD. Buy this for £5.00, 2 disc DVD and save yourself being very disappointed. The Blu Ray version is a taint on Brandon Lee's memory, in this, his final fine performance.

 A dark, haunting masterpiece.

A revenge movie, The Crow is one of the very few comic book adaptations that actually works, and boy, does it work! A Gothic visual treat, the film has huge amounts of style and is nothing short of a dark, haunting masterpiece. Little wonder the film has such a cult following. Lee is superb, and in some way the film seems very apt as an epic tribute to the remarkable up and coming actor, struck down in such a tragic way. At this price you really should not be without this DVD!

Great film, not quite up to bluray quality though

The film, of course, is as great as it was when I watched it many years ago. The conversion to Bluray though wasn't quite up to the standard expected of it now - quite noisy and grainy in parts, it felt like watching a normal DVD but it makes it more obvious which bits are CGi, which is a shame.

Great film but could be better

This is a great film - the menus are in 1080p but the film is only 1080i :/ not the best but still a great picture. The extras are in 576p which is ok for the video because you can see how good 1080 is, but as for the still pictures :( they could have got them in HD, they were just being lazy bringing them over from the DVD - they look a mess on a HDTV and as for the soundtrack there is only a DTS 5.1 :/ In the days of DVD I hunted for DTS tracks in all my films because of it having a higher bitrate than Dolby Digital, but if a US release of it comes with 1080p and PCM track I will sell it without having to even think about it. Anyway, all in all better than the DVD and still a must have film - good effort "Entertainment in Video" hope your future films are in 1080p and have a HD soundtrack like PCM, DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 or Dolby TrueHD tracks in them :)

 The crow looks even better
