Loved this film as a child and over the years have accumulated the VHS, initial DVD and then the remastered re-issue a few years back. Received the Blu-ray today and I have been amazed at the job they did on the picture quality when transferring this. At the moment am listening through a full HD 1080p TV with stereo sound and that sounds fine - haven't yet hooked up the Blu-ray player to the 5.1. system I run so can't comment on the DTS-HD soundtrack but imagine it will be an improvement on the most recent DVD being uncompressed. The extras are OK with an extensive interview with DVD (Dick Van Dyke). Sadly much of the cast are now departed (Benny Hill, Gert Frobe, Robert Helpmann, etc.) and so he is left to comment about their involvement and it is a shame that Sally Anne Howes does not feature. So 5 out of 5 for Picture and 3 out of five for extras from me!
Firstly this has to been one of the greatest films of all time from the writer who brought you James bond, Ian flemmings novel later created into a film is a masterpeice that has taken the world by storm, the film is appropraite for all ages and will appeal to most, the film doesnt get tiring and has been such a success that now the film has been made into a musical at many performing arts theatres. Fun for all ages and a real gem. Watch it you'll see what i mean.
The picture quality has been restored superbly seeing as the film was made in 1968
The sound is also fantastic
Oh and dont forget you will get the Blu-ray disc and a Dvd in this special addition, for the price you can't go wrong
What a fantastic job they have done to this classic film ,picture & dts sound are top drawer .
