Not really a great use of the Blue Ray technology. This version certainly does not appear that it is struck from the original 65mm eliments as there is medium to heavy pixel noise throughout the film. True, it is certainly a vast improvement from previous DVD releases but this version does not in any way use the Blue Ray technology to it's heights. For example, when compared to ZULU which is on the Paramount label and was produced in the same era, there really is'nt any comparison. ZULU really boasts an incredible resoloution throughout and is a fine example of the new technology. I have no idea of what went wrong here, but for most people I guess that this version is good enough. Not for me I'm affraid. A lack of respect for the product it seems is the main cause for a somewhat mediocre presentation.

The Sound Of Music will soar on Blu-ray!

What is there not to love about the most popular musical? Amazing tunes, gorgeous scenery, a winning cast, a great story. Just throw in a few singing nuns and some Nazis and you have the whole package. Schmaltzy reputation aside, The Sound of Music is still (and always will be) one of the greats with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer deftly navigating through the potential treacle to create some memorable characters. The Austrian landscapes are gorgeous, and the music even more so. Amongst the memorable songs, Climb Every Mountain is the treat of all treats. Beautifully cleaned up for Blu-ray too.

 Nothing short of perfect!

The picture and sound on this are truly breathtaking! It really is like watching the film for the first time. Detail is jaw dropping and the sound mix is wonderful!

There is absolutely no excuse for not buying this - worth a lot more than the 9 pounds in the 2 for 18 quid deal. An absolute bargain!

Buy. It. NOW!!!!

 Born again!

How wonderful to see the crisp and colourful scenes as they werefirst seen over 40 years ago. This version lifts the film from grainy, Sunday afternoon TV snoozing to a touching and funny Musical that captivated cinema audiences all that time ago. Sing along version and DVD included with loads of extras. Great buy and a great chance to show younger folk what made the movie so popular.
