Supertramp's "Breakfast In America" was the biggest selling album in the world in 1979. It spawned several hit singles and went on to win two Grammy Awards and sell in excess of 20 million copies. Following the album's release Supertramp embarked on a 10 month world tour which arrived in Paris at the end of November. This show from the Pavillon de Paris was both filmed and recorded. The audio went on to form the basis of the 1980 live album "Paris" but the film was never released. Now for the first time, transferred and restored to full HD from the original 16mm film, this footage is available to Supertramp's legion of fans worldwide. The sound has been remixed by original sound engineer and co-producer Pete Henderson from the original multi-tracks and can now be heard in 5.1. This is a legendary show by a legendary band performing at their absolute peak and is a must for any Supertramp fan.

This concert have the best songs of Supertramp and is very similar to the audio originals. The video show some grains on dark sequences especially. But then again, a 65" HD-TV is very revealing and this is after all a concert done 33 years ago, so that is absolutely no problem or letdown.

The real treat with this concert is the sound which is fantastic when hooked up so that it delivers the DTS HD Master sound system. It is without doubt one of my very best buys when it comes to Blu-rays.

Having anticipated this release for some time, I can honestly say it has NOT been a disappointment as so many blurays of older shows have proved. The picture is superb and colourful, the sound is up to today's standards in every way and the 5.1 mix is spot on.

Considering the age of this material, it has stood the test of time to seriously challenge many up-to-date music blurays.

I'm sure Supertramp fans will be delighted with this release. Anyone else who might consider giving a go will find it wonderfully entertaining from a band who, mysteriously, were completely missed from recent high profile celebrations of british music.

How long have we waited?
After years of rumours and false starts, finally Tramp fans have the chance to see the concert footage from the third Paris '79 concert (the first two having formed the basis of the 'Paris' live double album released in 1980).
I'm delighted to report that the sound is simply breathtaking (an improvement on the album quality) and indeed better than many bang up-to-date releases. True, the picture is, in places, a little grainy (long shots in particular suffer) and the video is slightly out of sync with the audio here and there, but given that the material is now 33 years old, to comment on these issues seems like griping for the sake of it!
Overall, it's the performance of the band that really sells this release. Five songs from the original concert were not filmed so what you get here is not the 'full package', but it's still one and a half hours of suprisingly high quality muscial entertainment and well woth a purchase for any fan.
