The Proposal: Combi Pack (2009) (Blu-ray)

i'm awarding '5' stars because i found much of the film though predictable, really 'laugh-out-loud funny.
'margaret' a no-nonsense business woman is on the verge of deportation, which would leave the guy she's just fited as her replacement, her work is her life.
'andrew' is her assistant who has ambitions of his own, however 'margaret' throws a giant shadow over his asperations.
'margaret' comes up with a plan to dodge deportation, she demands that 'andrew' marries her in exchange for promotion and that his book would be published.
they fly off to 'andrew's' family home in alaska, this introduces 'andrew's' diverse family members and friends, leading to much humour.
this is a very funny film with 'sandra bullock' and 'ryan reynolds' lighting up the screen with thier off-beat liason.
great---'blu-ray' transfer including some stunning scenary sequences.
not to long to wait for the 'u.k' re-lease ( u.s--version will only play on a region 'a' player )

Not a big fan of Rom Coms in general, only something like Devil Wears Prada gets my approval.
Last one I watched Confession of a Shopaholic, was lame.
But this movie was really good, very involving and non stop fun all the way to the closing credits.
Excellent performances by Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
Story is predictable, but well executed.
And whoever decide to use Alaska as the backdrop to set the movie is a Genius.
Highly Recommended forver.

I really loved this movie. It's the perfect romantic comedy. Sandra Bullock at her best. This will go with the films to watch again and again.

The score is for the film, not the blu ray transfer. To be honest I would save my money and go for the heavily discounted DVD version of the film. The Blu ray picture quality is however stunning but not really a massive showcase for the media.

The film has been done many time before the hard woman/man who has to marry to stay in the country to get a green card etc. This film however is refreshing in it's approach and has so much great comedy that you soon forget you have seen it all before. The laughs come thick and fast and you get a real sense of fun and chemisty from the 2 lead characters.

The supporting cast is fantastic Mary Steenburgen as ever is wonderful and Betty White is fantastic.

The film whas enough laughs for the guys and enough comedy and romance for the ladies, this is a win/win film with charm and charisma that lifts it above other romantic comedies out there.
