From legendary director/writer James L. Brooks comes a humorous and romantic look at the "How Do You Know" question. When everything she's ever known is suddenly taken from her, Lisa (Reese Witherspoon) begins a fling with Matty (Owen Wilson), a major league baseball player and self-centred ladies man. Before their relationship takes off, Lisa meets up with George (Paul Rudd) a straight-arrow businessman facing his own serious issues, both with his father (Jack Nicholson) and the law. Just when everything seems to be falling apart, they discover what it means to have something wonderful happen.

This is a wonderful and very funny film. A very nice plot, good dialogue, brilliant actors, many levels of story down into the very essence of love and the dilemma of decision. Superb!

 not what i expected

Reese is one of my favorite actresses but this is not one of her best films. It was a bit boring and very strange sometimes. Not so entertaining but it turns out to be ok by the end.

I think we just found out....

I wish I had known before hand. Tawdry, boring, scatty, all the chemistry between the leads of a distant relative that you have never met or care to ever meet. Just slow, plodding, over long. I gave it 2 stars cause it made me laugh 3 times and isn't horrible but just, well, what a waste of cash to make!

Great Red Dress. Not So Great Movie.

How Do You Know (2010) is a romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd and Jack Nicholson.

This film suffers from not being very funny. The characters are not as funny or quirky as they need to be to make the audience care about them.

Witherspoon is a little bit bland and Rudd seems to be on automatic pilot mode. Wilson tries to be quirky but his character is just annoying and even the great Jack Nicholson fails to get any laughs.

The movie seems to struggle to engage its audience and writer/director James L Brooks is guilty of letting the movie become unfocused. Its not awful but its a long way from Brooks masterpiece As Good As It Gets.
