Rafe McCawley (Ben Affleck) and Danny Walker (Josh Hartnett) are childhood friends who both dream of flying. As the world becomes embroiled in World War II in the early 1940's, Rafe and Danny sign on with the United States armed forces, although America is still in an isolationist position. Eager to participate in combat, Rafe is compelled to join the British air fight against the Nazis, leaving his girlfriend, beautiful army nurse Evelyn Stewart (Kate Beckinsale) behind. When Evelyn and Danny are transferred to the military base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, they hear the news that Rafe has been shot down and killed. Hoping to move on after grieving, Danny and Evelyn find themselves in love. When Rafe returns alive, the three find themselves in an uncomfortable personal situation that is soon engulfed by the massive surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.

Putting aside their differences, Rafe and Danny join the desperate fight against the enemy invaders. The film's epic sweep intertwines Rafe and Danny's stories with the heroic efforts of such characters as "Dorrie" Miller (Cuba Gooding Jr.), a ship's cook turned fighter, Earl (Tom Sizemore), a courageous base mechanic, and Jimmy Doolittle (Alec Baldwin), the visionary pilot who would lead one of America's most famous counterattacks of the war. Dan Aykroyd also appears as the code breaking Captain Thurman and Jon Voight as President Franklin Roosevelt.

Blu-Ray makes this good film excellent

I have seen this movie a couple of times on DVD and whilst it is based on fact, there is an awful lot of poetic license taken with this film. That aside, this film is actually very good and has a great mix of heart-warming love, friendship and unity coupled with shed-loads of dramatic action, explosions and blazing guns.

Quality wise, the BD version of this film is jaw-dropping. Colour and detail are unrivalled and the soundtrack is simply awsome. DD is fantastic, DTS incredible.

You might not be a fan of this sort of movie but if you want to see what your HD system and surround sound set-up can do, get this movie on BD.

A must for the WWII Movie fans.

People who purchased this film available only as 2 disc DVD as I have will be happy to see the movie is pressed onto one high capacity Blu-ray disc. Michael Bay's suptuous over the top stylish cinematography is transfered faithfully and remastered onto 2:35:1 widescreen HD. With an uncompressed awesome faultless soundtrack by Hans Zimmer in the superb Audio clarity.

Trying to jump onto the 'Titanic' disaster movie success with marrying with the brilliant war film 'Tora Tora Tora'. This Film like all war films previously is part historic and rest is pure Hollywood, this includes my favourites. 'Black Hawk Down, Battle of the Bulge, The Longest Day, Battle of Britain' etc and one of favourites 'Saving Private Ryan' which is loosely based on the truth, in WWII Normandy a U.S Priest officer was dispatched to find a surviving brother not half a squad of G.I's who end up doing a 'Bridge too Far' action to save a critcal bridge for american tanks to cross!

 absolutely brilliant!

I don't get people who say the love parts shouldn't be there, I thought it was a perfect balance considering the action that comes later, it was really nice story about 2 men who love the same woman and had to go to war, almost like a suicide mission, so to me it made the film complete and have a proper story than just all action and no point, but of course there is some people who want all action and no real story, but this film has plenty of both so why complain?
I have to pouint out I actually hate war films, but I thought the overall film was amazeing includeing the action scenes, and titanic?
This was a lot better than titanic, I thouroughly enjoyed this, you can't get better than this, it's absoutlely brilliant, one of the best films I ever saw.
