Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series Box Set (2010) (With Lenticular Sleeve) (6 Discs) (Blu-ray)

Badly conceived, cast and written. This very mixed bag of horrendous mistakes season, from the titles and theme makeover to the just plain stupid Dalek redesign, stumbles along to a very weak climax .
Thankfully Matt Smith shines through in the bleaker moments, even when you can't understand what the companion is saying! the better episodes have amy pond locked in cupboard for the duration.....
lets hope they can get better before even more of the public loose interest.

david tennant was the best doctor and billie piper was the best companion but amy pond is easily the second best companion so she makes up for the disturbing looks of the new doctor.as a person matt smith seemsamazing as i recently met him and ames corden filming series 6 but as a docor he just doesnt look or act right.and with the whole new look of the show and the horrible tardis if it wasnt for amy pond this series would have flopped so badly

This was an amazing and brilliant 5th series in the new run of doctor who! Every episode was great with an interesting story and wonderfull actors! Matt smith and Karen Gillian were very good and played the best doctor and assistant by far! This is quality British TV Sci-fi at its peak and a must own on blu-ray as BBC blu-rays are always quality as was the specials set. Worth every penny make sure you get yours!

The Silurian storys a bit of a let down and the companions are week. Matt Smith no way as good as David but overall not a bad series

Please don't listen to those giving this show one star, they really do not know what they are talking about. Amy Pond could be the best companion ever, and the show is really improved across the board. Vincent and the Doctor is quite possibly one of the best bits of drama I have ever seen. A must have

I have to admit after David Tennant's fantastic performance as the tenth Doctor I thought Matt Smith would struggle to live up to the standard mainly due to the fact that he had a lesser profile to David and was to date the youngest actor to take the role but to my delight I was completely wrong. Matt is in my opinion equally as good as David and a simaluar sort of character. Moving on to the actual series a personal favourite was Victory of the Daleks and I thought the new Dalek design was good. The companion Amy Pond gels well with the Doctor and embraces the experience of seeing aliens and other worlds and seems to show little fear which I think works well. If you haven't seen the fifth series yet you don't know what your missing.

I'm so glad I started watching Doctor Who from this season! Matt Smith, Karen Gillen and Arthur Darvill are SO delightful (I had no problem understanding Amy, even though English is not my first language, should anybody be worried about that) and Moffat makes engrossing, charming stories. I was spellbound all season.

If I had started with the first season I think the combination of the horrible effects and worse companion (Rose is the most unlikeable person in the world, not to mention her habit of lolling her tongue out of her mouth like a prize cow) would have made me give up after two episodes.

I really liked Tennant's doctor at the start, but RTD's forcing him to that weepy, clingy ending completely soured his performance.
