5 What's Occurring?MissManxBailey | 09/06/2010 | See all MissManxBailey's reviews (51)I think I am like many people - not everyone watched this from the start. It was one of those shows that you knew about, it didn't quite make much sense on the clips you saw, so you didn't really try it. And then...I remember the night well...I was channel hopping and I watched the last episode of Series 1! To say I laughed was an understatement...it's so, so funny! And yet, you do sometimes wonder what you're laughing at., The humour is so subtle, so cleverly written and so delightfully dead pan, that it's amazing it works at all, and yet it does. The whole show is focussed on literally no more than 8 main people - Gavin, Gavin's mum and dad, Stacey, and her mum, Gavin's mate Smithy, Stacey's mate Nessa, family friends Dawn and Pete and Stacey's Uncle Bryn...it means tree in Welsh! You find that in every episode, there is usually 2 stories running parallel with each other, and every episode starts with a phone call! It's tradition! In the middle of Series 2 and 3 is the Christmas Special, and if this doesn't make you laugh and laugh, there's something seriously wrong with you =]Nessa, as Stacey's friend is just unique. She is a lorry driver, has been on the road with rock bands, has been engaged to John Prescott - there's nothing she hasn't done! Smithy is a loveable lad, who literally bumbles through life, trying to please his 17 yr old girlfriend Lucy - who you never see - and yet, events occur that cause so many issues for him.I won't spoil anything for you. Please, try this show :) You honesty don't know what you're missing if you don't. And the excellent writing by James Corden and Ruth Jones will make you hope and pray that they change their minds and get writing a 4th series soon!
