In Arizona in the late 1800's, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the 3:10 to Yuma, a train that will take the killer to trial.

On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other's respect. But with Wade's outfit on their trail - and dangers at every turn - the mission soon becomes a violent, impossible journey toward each man's destiny.

 Pardon?!?!

Thought this was a really good movie, good acting by the two leads and look spectacular in HD. I have to agree with the previous review on the sound levels though, the dialogue seemed unusually quite so had to turn the volume up then when the gun fire kicked in it was deafening so had to turn it down again.

Was really looking forward to seeing Russell Crowe facing off against the very talented Christian Bale, and that was the aspect of the movie that mad it enjoyable, beyond that tho the whole affair was standard. Defo for Fans of the above mentioned in the title.
Best western this director has made so far is the UNDER-RATED CLASSIC "Copland" (Stallone - De Niro - Kietel and Liotta )which is a Westen set in the modern day with a brilliant lead performance from Sylvester Stallone
Buy that.

Uin terms of story, i foind this to be very well thought out and great acting performances from crowe and bale really added to the suspense, of what would happen next.

Its refreshing to watch a movie that focuses on the story, rather than big explosions and cgi.

In terms of blu ray, its a bit hit and miss. Skin tones can be a little washed out sometimes and considering a lot of the movie was shot outdoors and in the day time, i was a tiny bit dissapointed that the picture did not jump out at me in hd.

But in 80% of the movie, i was very pleased with the quality of the blu ray.
Id recommend this is given a try, i would watch the movie again.

Crowe whispers too much or im going deaf

Great film, very watchable, well acted throughout and has a gripping storyline.

Did find the sound levels were all over the place - had to whack the volume up to hear Russell Crowes character talking (alot of whispering) then had to turn it down for the gun shots due to fear of annoying the neighbours.

Minor point really. (and could just be my Samsung isnt great with sound) I am glad I have it in my collection.
