The year is 1878, Lincoln County. John Tunstall, a British ranch owner, hires six rebellious boys as "regulators" to protect his ranch against the ruthless Santa Fe Ring. When Tunstall is killed in an ambush, the Regulators, led by the wild-tempered Billy the Kid, declare war on the Ring. As their vendetta turns into a bloody rampage, they are branded outlaws, becoming the targets of the largest manhunt in Western history.

Wonderful movie but worst BluRay-transformation so far..

I love the western-genre and this modern popwestern is wonderful and entertaining.. I've got the DVD, but the treshold for buying the BluRay-version of favourites are low.. The main thing, though, is that the picture quality should match the medium and the sound should be better than the DVD.. I guess the quality of the sound here is probably the same as on the DVD, but the picture, on a 92" screeen, is awful.. you can really see the pixels on the edge of every hat and gun.. and it's very annoying..

On the positive side.. there is an entertaining feature that gives an insight into the real W. H. Bonney that actually gives the movie more credibility than I've ever thought it should have.. Most of the caracters in the movie are real and they link pretty good up with the story of the movie..

The movie is still wonderful, but the BluRay is a big dissapointment!

we'd gone quite a while without 'good' 'western releases' when 'young guns' hit our screens.
the days of the 'eastwood' westerns were all but past and the days of 'john wayne' ( the ultimate cowboy ) had long since past.
'young guns' was a refreshing 'blast'
great action, along with some subtle humour that 'william boney's' role demanded.('emilio entevez' could not have been bettered in this role )
of course as we know, several 'classic' westerns have been made since, and like this one, should not be missed they include 'kevin costner's' 'dances with wolves' 'open range' and 'wyatt earp' along with 'daniel day lewis's' great portrayel in 'last of the mohican's' not forgetting 'clint eastwood' as an ageing gunslinger in 'unforgiven' and what in my opinion is the best 'alamo' film to date, this being 'billy bob thornton's' part as the legendary 'davy crockett'
most of these are available on 'blu-ray' hopefully those that are not soon will be.
also i'd like the '2nd' 'young guns' to also be released on this format, maybe soon ?
and yes it's a better show on this 'format'

 It's quite a sensation!

One of my favourite movie's, and one of my favourite historical figure's- Billy The Kid. The blu ray release is not perfect by any mean's(which is understandable due to the age of the feature) but is a lot clearer and sharper in both sound and vision. A class act of a movie(in my oppinion anyway.) which any western fan should either see or own.

Not quite as sharp as i would have liked but better than the dvd disc , a modern classic western , if you excuse the grammer , well watchable , yes the transfer could be better but a great film
