Australia is the new film from director Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Romeo And Juliet) and stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

Australia centers on an English aristocrat, Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

Great way to pass a couple of hours

I was wary of this but got it on the recomendation of a friend. I was glad I did.
What a great film.
A traditional film; that is one with a story and good acting. You get to feel for the characters something missing in many of todays films.
The scenery and photography are stunning as others have mentioned it also has many humorous moments. I highly recomend it.

The outback in all its glory!!!

Beautifully made film with a very strong and impressive cast. And what i like about they cast true australians for the roles and not a couple of americans putting on a fake accent. This film has it all great action, romance and a great storey. Stunning visuals on blu-ray with the sound quality just as good. A very good film to own and at a great price.

 And why not....!!

This is an epic and that's for sure. The five stars is for anyone with a mammoth screen that can deliver good full HD, and a decent HD sound system because with these it is a great spectacle. There are some slow bits but on the whole I enjoyed this adventure very much, Great acting all round, an early scene that will stop any womans heart in it's tracks.... you will know it when you see it, the end is a bit obvious but it is definitely worth a watch and even a buy. The stampede scene is particularly worthy of a demo. ENJOY, if you have a few hours to kill that is.....

I don't touch lovey-dovey films,9 times put of 10 they leave me cold. Thought I would hive this a go,and really glad I did! I think if it was anyone other than Jackman and Kidman (who is usually hit or miss in her roles) wouldn't have worked.both play their roles fantastically,as 'do' the rest of the cast. Great story, superb scenario - I agree with the previous reviewer that a big tv and sound system would 'do' this film justice. Highly recommend this!

 An often missed epic classic

I bought this title for my wife and as we watched it together for the second time I truly realised how wonderful a movie it actually is. I am not a Baz Luhrmann fan just out of default of not being a huge musical lover but this movie really has everything you want from a movie, romance, excitement, adventure, fun, emotion and all rolled up across the stunning landscapes of Australia. It is brilliantly acted by the whole cast especaily Hugh Jackman who was born to play this role, a character I feel is far better than his signature characher, Wolverine. Despite being an epic 2 and a half hours long this movie thoroughly sweeps you away, never dragging and always entertaining, it has a blinding Blu Ray transfer and is a must for fans of either of its lead actors or big epic movies, this movie ticks all the boxes. Enjoy.
