A group of fun-loving teenagers take jobs at a recently re-opened summer camp, unaware of the circumstances that had led to its closure: the drowning of a young boy named Jason and subsequent murder of two counsellors over twenty years before. No sooner has the camp re-opened for business than the killing begins again, as the teens are picked off one by one.

Just to echo the previous reviews, the Blu Ray quality is excellent, as are the extras. Please note, the Bonus Digital Copy offer expired 19/10/10. When you try to access the Warner web page it no longer exists. I thought it may be helpful to point this out as I was looking forward to having a PC backup of the film.

 Forgotten how good it was...

I've always been a big fan of this film, loved it since I first saw it as an adolescent back in the 1980s; like Halloween before, it is one of the reasons I still love horror movies. This Blu-Ray version looks fantastic: Crystal Lake looks crystal clear and there is a real sense of isolation in the depth of the picture. This clarity also gives the stalking scenes a new dynamism, amping up the tension. Considering the film's age the producers of this disc have done a stirling job on the transfer and the extras as pretty good too. Recommended.

 HELL YEAH

this has got to be the best horror film on blu ray so far and for only 8.99 what a bargin this is the original friday the 13th movie and in my opinion the scariest if you have never watched this film befor it will be a real treat there are so many slasher films out now with real bad plots and twists this is original and the best with a nice twist

The Horror you been wating for in Hi-Def!!

Well firstly I been a fan since I was about 12 years old yes 12! And friday the 13th has always stuck out in my mind I never seem to get bored with this. Ok to todays standards some people may disagree, it may not be as good. But you have to put yourself back to 1980 when this film was todays standards then! But all in all a great late night film to watch and even more so in High Def! The colours are bright and very vivid sometimes the night scenes are back to dvd standards but remember this is 30 years old! All in all a great add to any Friday the 13th fan!

 WOW, It's Kevin Bacon

I use to watch this has a child and loved it, twenty years on I still do. It is a little dated in the terms of 'horrors' today but they never had as much to work with as they do today. So you cant complain about some of the special effects. The story line works well and the cast is ok, I never realised as a child Kevin Bacon was in it (mainly due to the fact I never knew who is was) so there will be one familiar face amongst the cast for all you film fans who are dubious of films with no star actors/actresses in them.

The Blu-Ray quality is good along with the sound for a film from 1980.
