This has to be in my top ten list of the greatest films i have ever seen. Reno, oldman and portman are all absolutely excellent in this and bessons directing has never been better in my opinion. Every scene in the film has something to make you want to see it through to the end and what an ending it has too. If one film deserves to be bought on blu ray that you don't have then this is it. An Absolute Stone Cold Classic.

For anyone asking:
Language - English
Subs: English only.

Great film, good transfer. If the subtitles are not the issue (or English subtitles are enough for you like me), then i say go for it.

Bring me everyone...What do you mean 'everyone'?..EVERYONE!!

Leon is a great film, not because of special effects or big name actors but because of the story and chemistry between the actors.

The basic story is of a child being taken in by her neighbour who is a hitman after some rogue cops kill her family and drug dealing father. From then on the police are trying to find her as shes the only witness still alive but Leon who she is living with sets out to keep her safe.

The transfer to blu ray is very good and so is the sound, but its the story of the friendship between Leon and Mathilda that make this move and some great acting by Gary Oldman. The action scenes are great too.

The directors cut gives a slight different edge to the film as it shows more of Leon and Mathilda together with Leon teaching her some of his cleaning tips but it also raises some questions about there time together too.

A great film, a classic.

A triumph by Luc Besson, this classic story of a lone assassin (Reno), their world turned upside down when forced to save the life of a young girl (Portman) from a corrupt enforcement officer (Oldman). With beautiful scores from the works of Bjork and Sting, the tale is told from the point of view of the assassin as he comes to terms with the relationship he is now responsible for. A story of vendetta superbly shot with growing tension and outstanding performances from all involved.

An agreement is struck whereby Reno trains Portman to assassinate while she in turn teaches him to read and write. The story builds until the pursuing Oldman places Reno in a situation whereby he must defend himself against all odds or risk losing his companion. The inevitable ending ensues leaving its audience breathless but aware they have been routing for the villain all along. A roller coaster of a movie with an addition of the Directors Cut available rating this film highly among its genre.

One of the most interesting directors cuts I've seen...

I'm always fascinated by the differences between directors cuts and original theatrical cuts of films and really appreciate having both versions in one package.
Leon is a great example of how a different cut of the film can make you see the film in a completely different light.

Without giving too much away, the theatrical version of the film makes the relationship between Mathilda and Leon seem like an innocent childhood crush. But the directors cut explores this further and made the whole thing seem a bit uncomfortable. Not to say it wasn't an enjoyable viewing - but it was definitely interesting to see what a difference it made to how you view their relationship. I prefer the theatrical version but recommend watching both.

Picture quality is improved in some scenes, but grain does appear in darker moments of the film. But this does not distract from the film at all. Audio quality again is good and improved from the previous releases.

allways has been 1 of my top 5 movies of all time and the blu-ray edition makes it so much better since the picture qulity is now throught the roof and with new sound ,jeon reno ,gary oldman and miss portman make this movie for me with fabulos soundtrack, with some of my fav moment coming from gary oldman who played a great part,i have heard from other reveiws that the qulity is not so good in the outdoor moments which is true but with %99 of the movie beeing indoors that dosen realy matter ,so for a great movie buy this and you will not be dissapointed.

Leon is a excellent film that gave birth to the likes of the hitman movie and similar contract killer followings. It is a strong story performed by an amazing cast actors. Jean Reno in my opinion is a good gritty actor who made the character of Leon is own.Watch this film you will enjoy it!!

This is how the Hitman film that came out in 2008 should have been like. I Even now still can't forget about this film guys, the last time i saw this film when i was 6, brings back a lot of memories. This is worth the buy guys. if you liked the hitman film, then watch this film, and then tell me what you think about this film, when being compared to the hitman film.
