A fragile, anxious boy, 12-year-old Oskar is regularly bullied by his stronger classmates but never strikes back. The lonely boy's wish for a friend seems to come true when he meets Eli, also 12, who moves in next door to him with her father. A pale, serious young girl, she only comes out at night and doesn't seem affected by the freezing temperatures.Coinciding with Eli's arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders. One man is found tied to a tree, another frozen in the lake, a woman bitten in the neck. Blood seems to be the common denominator--and for an introverted boy like Oskar, who is fascinated by gruesome stories, it doesn't take long before he figures out that Eli is a vampire. But by now a subtle romance has blossomed between Oskar and Eli, and she gives him the strength to fight back against his aggressors. Oskar becomes increasingly aware of the tragic, inhuman dimension of Eli's plight, but cannot bring himself to forsake her. Frozen forever in a twelve-year-old's body, with all the burgeoning feelings and confused emotions of a young adolescent, Eli knows that she can only continue to live if she keeps on moving. But when Oskar faces his darkest hour, Eli returns to defend him the only way she can.

I must admit when it comes down to horror I always find the ones I enjoy the most time after time are the Vampire films. The one thing that makes this film "Let The Right One In" so great is that because it's Swedish it has a really unique look and feel to it. I thought the film Twilight was very good but this film is brilliant and will be known as a classic in years to come. I found myself not wanting the story to end and the scenery at times looks amazing on blu-ray. The love story between the boy and the girl is intriguing and very interesting. When the horror and blood happens it is done with excellent style. All you Vampire fans need to watch this film before the Americans taint it's greatness with their version which is in the pipe line.

the best foreign film since pan's labyrinth!

This really is fantastic. Here are five reasons as to why you should buy it.
The performances from the two young leads are fantastic and makes you really feel sympathy for them.
Masterfully directed by Thomas Alfredson.
Very graphic in violence but artfully done and it is violent for a reason.
Shows how bad being a vampire is; Forget Twilight, this is the real deal.
Original and intelligent.
Genuinely mesmerising.

You will not regret buying this!

Every now and then a little gem of a foreign language film comes along.Let the right one in kept me captivated and enthralled for its duration.Great visuals and sound set in the snow.Yes its a vampire movie, but dont expect bat transformations and crucifixes flying around, its much more subtile than that. The two leading charactors being 12 years old was a very pleasant change and a completely different spin on the genre.A great watch.

 Loneliness

This isn't the obvious "Vampire" film...and from the reviews you could be forgiven for thinking this to be a true masterpiece in the same catagoiries as Shawshank or The Godfather... It isn't.

What it is, is a simple story of friendship and need to belong, the story is told beautifully and there are some stunning visuals and brutal honesty of the feeling of loneliness and isolation.
This is certainly worth a watch and an easy introduction to World Cinema which is a good thing to show not only Hollywood make movies worth seeing.
