  A beautiful love story

| | See all Annakin's reviews (14)

How anyone could come up with the idea of a 200 year old vampire girl falling in love with a frail boy is beyond my realm, but John Ajvide Lindqvist (who wrote the book and the movies screenplay) did with perfection.

Without a doubt this is a movie which deserves to be in everyones collection and this Blu-ray version is even crisper than the original DVD.

Buy it right now!

  Good but not great!

A very, very, very good movie which is oddly mesmerising and addictive. However, it was not the 'classic' I was expecting. personally for me it left too many parts of the story unexplained. Even given this I would still highly recommend it and don't let the subtitles put you off. My main gripe was the bluray transfer. it is average at best and seemed to be slightly out of focus and general looked flat and lacked the depth a good bluray transfer can convey!

a highly original and moving horror. much better than the average remake that the americans did. this a breath-taking, phenomenal movie.

I really don't know what the big deal about this film is. I don't mind films being subtitled, the subtitles don't bother me. The problem with this film is pretty much everything but the subtitles. It seemed I was waiting the whole film for something to happen, but nothing really did. There isn't really a plot to this film either, there seems to be no beginning, middle or end. There's just talking, talking and talking. The problem with this is that the dialogue is really, really boring and the acting ability of the two main stars is questionable at the best of times. Don't buy into the hype of this film. It seems people think they're ''cool'' for saying they like a foreign film.

Visual treat. One of the best 'vampire' movies ever

If you only watch one 'vampire' movie this decade make it this one. It's visually stunning and utterly captivating. It's like no other in its genre and that, for me, makes this a very special watch. And if you take the plunge and enjoy this movie, buy the book too. It's brilliant! Enjoy.

  Excellent!

Very original. I've only ever Saw a handful of foreign movies. This one takes it to a whole new level. I've saw a good few movies but the character building is exceptional! You really do start to feel for the 2 main characters. Especially for the girl.

I was pretty skeptical about watching this, but I'm glad I did! It's worth the plummet especially for 9.99. You can't go wrong!

Those two characters are something else, they really are!

the best foreign film since pan's labyrinth!

This really is fantastic. Here are five reasons as to why you should buy it.
The performances from the two young leads are fantastic and makes you really feel sympathy for them.
Masterfully directed by Thomas Alfredson.
Very graphic in violence but artfully done and it is violent for a reason.
Shows how bad being a vampire is; Forget Twilight, this is the real deal.
Original and intelligent.
Genuinely mesmerising.

You will not regret buying this!

Keep an open mind.As Wallender swedish against UK version glows, may be the subtitles or the different ways of acting ,or the cold open spaces, but this excells, don.t miss a moment, can't fault the cast or storyline.Love story?, revenge?,real(?)vampire (always wonderd about passing the door threshold).Supurb ! Hope U.S. version dosn't wreck it.But why remake? Italian Job ,Pink Panther...

  Loneliness

This isn't the obvious "Vampire" film...and from the reviews you could be forgiven for thinking this to be a true masterpiece in the same catagoiries as Shawshank or The Godfather... It isn't.

What it is, is a simple story of friendship and need to belong, the story is told beautifully and there are some stunning visuals and brutal honesty of the feeling of loneliness and isolation.
This is certainly worth a watch and an easy introduction to World Cinema which is a good thing to show not only Hollywood make movies worth seeing.

Let the right one in Review

Do not be afraid to watch this film if you are not keen on subtitled film or even vampire films. It is a must watch for anyone as there is something in it for everyone.
A beautiful if perhaps doomed love story.
Amazing directing with some brilliant soft focuses used perfectly.
The Special effects stand out from all other vampire films. Graphic and horrific, but again, somehow beautiful because it has meaning and purpose.
Let the right one in is a wonderful film that any film lover will love.
