A carnage heavy, no holds barred stalk-and-slash fright-fest that recalls the genre's late `70s heyday, Switchblade Romance is an uncompromising and brilliantly unsettling film from writer-director Alexandre Aja.

Best friends and holidaying students Marie (Cécile De France) and Alex (Maiwenn Le Besco) travel to the countryside to visit Alex's parents, but when a homicidal maniac turns up at the house, leaving a trail of corpses in his wake, Alex and Marie are forced to fight for their lives with some heavy-duty weaponry. With a heart-pounding pace as brutal as its husky, truck-driving killer, Switchblade Romance delivers a truly visceral experience. Undoubtedly the film that horror junkies have been waiting for, viewing alone is not advised.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

This is a must own for any horror fan. An amazing film with a great twisted story full of bloody violence and gore. The french really know how to make a gritty horror that gets under your skin. This is one of Alexandre Aja's early movies but still his best. he also went on to direct the Hills have eyes remake and Mirrors. Switchblade romance is an insane film and not for the squeamish, and at this price you have to buy it. (This is a French language film with subtitles but don't be put off)

 great film, poor release

its like watching the actual celluloid on bluray. unfortunately there are no extras at all

What a great movie, and it€s french!

This is no doubt one on the next generation horror movies which you have to see. The BR edition is however nothing more than the standard movie, which looks mediocre in high def but sounds excellent with the DTS HD track. You do not need to know French to enjoy this movie (subs are only in English). This is a must have in any horror movie fans collection, too bad there are no extra's on this BR. But no complaining since the disc is dirt cheap :) - thank you Play.com!
