Pandorum is a terrifying thriller in which two crew members wake up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they've been asleep, or what their mission is. The two soon discover they're actually not alone - and the reality of their situation is more horrifying than they could have imagined.

 Dark and thoughtful Sci-Fi

Pandorum is a well executed sci-fi horror movie that explores some intriguing ideas about long distance space travel and a possible future of mankind. There are elements of the Alien films along with Event Horizon but I think there is enough here to grant Pandorum its own personality.

The Blu-ray Disc presents the film in 1080p at 2.39:1 and looks very good, though there are quite a few darker scenes that exhibit some grain - this is purely reflective of the film itself and unlikely to be a flaw with the transfer. Generally I was very pleased with the appearance of the film. The Dolby True HD surround track will scare the living daylights out of you on a good surround system, and with the ship's power malfunctioning there are plenty of opportunities for room-rumbling effects. Extras are modest but the 14 minute featurette on the making of the film proved to be better than I expected, giving some insight into the motivations for making the film and the director's approach. There's also a commentary and some deleted scenes.

Overall, a very worthwhile addition to my growing Blu-ray collection.

 Film of the year!

For me this to date is the film of 2009. It is a science fiction film that ticks all of the boxes, great action scenes, a wonderful script, the acting is brilliant on all levels, the sets are totally convincing, the lighting adding shades of darkness and light to the well developed tension throughout. Plus there are gut churning fighting sequences and the plot twists and turns to keep you totally gripped right up to the very satisfying ending.

I would draw some comparisons to the films alien and aliens, the entire thing feels so very claustrophobic even though the space craft which the story's setting seems to be the size of a small country. The acting is superb and the direction is top of its class too. I cannot recommend this film highly enough, it is a shame that most other films will now seem so small to me in comparison.

This will go down in time as a cult classic sci fi/horror!

This is indeed a very cool science fiction movie, original and fun and scary and ends with a good twist! The story is easy to follow and plays out nicely with a great cast and decent effects, there is also some great action and plenty of bloody violence. There are so many different movies in the mix too it feels like a cross between event horizon, the descent, doomsday, alien, predator and with original ideas too! Once the story starts to unfold it gets pretty nasty and completely weird but in a very cool way! This is certainly a sci-fi gem and must be seen.

 Surprisingly Good

Not knowing much about this film I took a gamble buying it but wasn't disappointed. Quite a few moments in the film have you on the edge of your seat - or hiding behind it. Best way I can describe this film is that it's a cross between the original Alien film and John Carpenter's "Ghosts of Mars".

Blu-ray quality seemed pretty good and considering the film has qutie a few dark scenes it didn't seem to suffer from picture grain.

Nice Sci Fi Horror with a TWIST

I am a Sci Fi fan and went into this film with a reasonable amount of high hope....and I was not dissapointed. Like many have said before it plays like a cross between dead space (game) and a few other films like alien and Event Horizon etc... but with an outer limits spin. I loved it and the only thing I was not keen on was the editing and speeding up during fight scenes. With excellent special effects and a competent if pretty much unknown cast except for Dennis Quaid, this was a nice surprise and worth a look.
