Produced by the team behind the amazing Event Horizon, the fact is blindingly obvious, from the lighting to the actual set design of many of the areas. However, there the comparisons fade, as this horror thriller is more like a space-age version of the Descent in style, with it's 'desperate humans battle to survive against crazed enemies' themed plot. It's made more suspenseful by the fact that the characters start with hibernation-induced amnseia which means they're learning what's going on as we are, and there are some wonderfully claustrophobic moments with the set design. Ben Foster makes a surprisingly good and engaging lead man as he struggles to restrain his panic at waking up to find the crew missing, the ship dark, and having no idea where anything is, who he is, or what's going on. The bad guys are very interesting and are used to great shock effect. And while not visually as amazing as Event Horizon, there's an effects shot in space that left us gaping with awe. It's fun, a little original, and very enjoyable.
