 Like watching paint dry

No doubt the film is brilliantly acted and directed. It's just the film is boring. It's not just a little boring its sooooooo boring. Watched it when it was first released and hated it. Gave it a few years and watched it again to see if I would appreciate it more as I was older and nope. Even in my mid 20's I can't stand the film.

Only watch this if you enjoy torture.

The two guys who have given this one star are probably window licking, knuckle scraping idiots. This is by far p.t andersons best film and a masterpiece. Blu ray quality good not brilliant.

 Exceptional Movie

A truly one off movie, its 3 hour and 15 mins, so you would think it is just a one time watch, but I have seen it 3 times now.
The overlapping multiple story structure works a treat. And full credit must go the director Paul Thomas Anderson, who went onto make the even better THERE WILL BE BLOOD, for crafting the story and getting some Stunning performances from a truly On Top of Their game Cast of Actors.
The story or plot, is not something that one can really describe, its more a case of watching these small stories and very real characters getting involved in certain situations, because they have lost something, or are looking for something. These things range from a Childhood, to Peace of Mind, to Love.
Maybe you wont think of it as much as I do, but I do recommend a one time watch.
If not for anything else, then just for the Acting on Display.
The standout performance is from Tom Cruise, in a Raw, Emotional, Arrogant, Career Best turn, but its much more than just that one stand out performance.
Everyone is pitch perfect from John C Reilly to William H Macy, from Phillip Seymour Hoffman to Julianne Moore
A Must Watch film, in its own quiet way.

Can't fault the film. More importantly, what's the BD like? It's marginally better than the DVD (am comparing on 1080p, 200" screen). It is the director's cut - but don't be fooled, it's the same cut as the original DVD.
