  A good film ( I'm not lying )

QUICK REVIEW:

Funny, Intelligent and a fantastic original film. Written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson. It's about a man named Mark (Gervais) who lives in a world where you can only tell the truth, Mark is a pathetic loser when it comes to his work and love life. One day he manages to tell a lie and as lying as not yet been invented he gets away with it no questions asked. Now Mark can lie he takes himself from zero to hero with some very funny consequences (like inventing god) The film also includes a very funny cameo scene between Stephen Merchant and Sean Williamson (Barry). It is a feel good movie that combines romance with comedy but in a way even the manliest of men can enjoy.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The usual stuff: Additional scenes , A making of featurette, Outtakes etc. But what is excellent is a feature called "Meet Karl Pilkington" (who is a legend in my eyes lol) It is about Ricky Gervais giving him a part as an extra in the film (basically the life of an extra) and you get to hear him moan all day and get picked on by Gervais.

  GOOD FILM

I was a bit unsure whether or not to buy this as I am not normally a fam of Ricky Gervais' work. However, I was suprised as this was a good film with a good storyline and good acting. Ricky Gervais portrayed his character very well. Will definately now give Ricky Gervais more thought when looking for a film to watch.

Just a quick heads up, this film is booring. There's nothing in this film to really get you going and the acting is poor. Its quite slow to start as well, you have to wait too long for the lying to begin (in my opinion, I dont know why ive pointed this out as being my opinion as the whole review is just one massive opinion).

  Fantastic Gervais Film

I was a bit sceptical about how good this film was going to be, due to some bad reviews, but I was pleasantly suprised about how good it really was! I loved the overall concept and thought it was executed well. Also thought Ricky acting throughout was brilliant! Being a fan of all his work, I'd definitely put it up there with the best. A very enjoyable film! Would highly recommend!

  Very Disappointed

Was looking forward to this as I am a huge Ricky Gervais fan.
But it just did not work, as a Comedy, as a Satire or as simple Entertainment.
The concept should have been exploited to the max, and had the potential to be really funny.
The litter of Star Cameos added nothing to a bland and almost boring 90 mins.
One to maybe catch on the TV, on a very Rainy day.
For a Very Good Ricky Gervais movie, check out Ghost Town instead.

  Gervais at his best

Another great Gervais film. Right up there with Ghost town (which is also brilliant). Very clever idea, well portrayed and brilliantly acted. Laughs from start to finish, thoroughly enjoyed it. If you "get" Ricky Gervais, buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Forget the other reviews you have read this is gervais at his best, a great story, really clever and well carried out with some touching moments, you sometimes know whats coming but in a strange way that makes it all the better. I laughed till I cried, then laughed some more. you wont be disappointed if you are a real gervais fan.

  Forget it..

Just watch the trailer! It covers the whole story and all the best jokes...
The movie is slow at start, then it just gets slower.
The idea is brilliant, but the execution is horrible. You will laugh about 3 times and giggle about 10-15 times. Other than that, you'll just climb the walls waiting for something to happen..

  Really bad

I am a huge Ricky Gervais fan and like his other films (they're not as good as his stand up though). And this was plain bad. I wanted to leave. He uses American words like "Jerk", which is annoying. But for a film that is meant to be funny, it fails on every level. Do not see this movie, what a waste of money.
