Based on the bestselling novel by Dan Brown, Angels & Demons follows Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) as he uncovers the perilous secrets of the Illuminati. Caught in a conflict between science and religion that threatens the Vatican City, will the clues lead Robert to the hidden weapon he seeks?

A new Pope is to be chosen. There are 4 candidates. The Illuminati want to make the decision themselves...

As the prospective candidates are killed off one by one, the killer lets it be known that he is from the Illuminati, but what do they want? Renowned symbologist Robert Langdon is called upon to investigate, clues leading him to the Vatican and on a quest for a massively destructive weapon.

Make sure you check out Dan Brown's latest Robert Langdon novel, The Lost Symbol, set to be adapted into a blockbuster movie sometime in 2012!

Very Good tranfer - DTS HD not at its best

There's no point arguing about whether the movie is good or bad or average...tastes and colour...
What matters to Blu-Ray buyers is the image quality and HD sound feeling.
In terms of image, and contrarily to what the first reviewer thinks...it is a very strong transfer, blacks are solid, contrasts are good and colours can be vibrant when desired. The whole atmosphere is dark, so is the colour range, a bit sombre at times and not overly bright, it is clearly how the director wanted it. As for grain, it's minimal, almost none.
The only reason i wouldn't give the disc a 5 stars is the DTS HD soundtrack that fails to deliver the punch I felt with Knowing or Transporter III

A good adaption of the book

When will people like the last reviewer realise that books have to be cut somewhat to make a two hour film? It's impossible to get everything in there! I read and enjoyed the book and also enjoyed the film. For those who have not read the book you may find it a little difficult to follow, but if you coped with the ins and outs of The Da Vinci Code you'll have no trouble with this. It's my opinion that the book and film are both better than Da Vinci.

 Just Demons

Its not a bad film on its own, but it is really bad for anyone who has read the book. The film has way too many changes. The director of CERN is a main character in the book but is not even in the film - Eh!!!

Great film, good transfer, diabolical sound!

This movie centres around the discord (and potential reconcilliation) between the forces of religion and science. After 'Knowing' I was bracing myself for yet another Hollywood lecture about faith, however I'm delighted to say that the film is balanced and impartial, and accords the same levels of respect to institutions like CERN as to the Vatican. The story moves along at a fair old pace and the twist at the end is superb- really didn't see it coming! Excellent performances from Hanks and the supporting cast, and a surprisingly good performance from Ewan McGregor (although he struggles with his Irish accent). Excellent entertainment.

The transfer is great (excelent contrast and colour with minimum noise) but not as punchy and pristine as Knowing.

Sound wise, maybe my copy was faulty but the dialogue track on the DTSHD-MA soundtrack kept cutting out randomnly- very frustrating!

Great adaptation of a Great Book

I loved the film, I actually thought that the ending was better put together than the book, alot more realistic and believable...

As adaptations go this is a cracker and I certainly will be purchasing the blu ray when released.
