CGI animation from executive producers from Robert Zemeckis (Back To The Future) and Steven Spielberg in which three teens discover that their neighbour's house is really a living, breathing, scary monster!

Even for a 12-year old, D.J. Walters has a particularly overactive imagination. He is convinced that his haggard and crabby neighbor Horace Nebbercracker, who terrorizes all the neighborhood kids, is responsible for Mrs. Nebbercracker's mysterious disappearance. Any toy that touches Nebbercracker's property, promptly disappears, swallowed up by the cavernous house in which Horace lives. D.J. has seen it with his own eyes!

But no one believes him, not even his best friend, Chowder. What everyone does not know is D.J. is not imagining things. Everything he's seen is absolutely true and it's about to get much worse than anything D.J could have imagined....

i rented out monster house from my local rental shop just becuase i could have it free with two other blu ray rentals, and im very glad i did, as this was alot better movie than both of the together. although it is marketed as a kids movie, my personal opinion is that is a family film. sure, its only 90 minutes long, but after watching it, i am definately eager to watch it again and again. the film is no doubt amazing thanks to blu ray disc. though it is an animated film, i felt the characters never felt more alive, and had so much personalitly than they did on the dvd version, and the blu ray leaves little to be desired. a great movie with a good solid plot behind it, with likeable characters and great voices for them, monster house is one of the best computer animated childrens films in years.

 Great fun film

The picture quality is superb. the plot is funny and only a little scary for the younger viewers. Well voiced with plenty of stars in it especially mr Nebercracker by steve buscemi. great fun for the whole familly.

I watched this last night with my Wife as she really wanted to watch it. In the past I've not been a massive fan of animated films but I found this to be really enjoyable with great characters and a fun story.
I actually enjoyed this more than Wall-E and its one of those films that both kids and adults will enjoy with both great animaton and an engrossing 5.1 PCM soundtrack on Blu Ray, its also got a very clean and impressive transfer as you'd expect from a CGI Film.
Highly Recommended.

 Decent but feels dated

This is a decent animated film, but the quality of the animation feels a little dated, compared to the visual mastery of other animated family films (Ice Age, Madagascar, Robinsons, etc). It will also appeal to a very narrow audience - somewhere between 10 and 12 perhaps. Some scenes are too scary for little ones, hence the PG and not a U rating. Enjoyable as a one off viewing perhaps.

 not so good

i have watched this on my 720p tv and although i enjoyed the film i thought the picture quality was more of a dvd quality.i watched it on my new 1080p tv and found it to be of better quality.there are other films with much better pictures out there.ice age 2 and meet the robinsons are out of this world in 720p and especially 1080p
