CGI animation from executive producers from Robert Zemeckis (Back To The Future) and Steven Spielberg in which three teens discover that their neighbour's house is really a living, breathing, scary monster!
Even for a 12-year old, D.J. Walters has a particularly overactive imagination. He is convinced that his haggard and crabby neighbor Horace Nebbercracker, who terrorizes all the neighborhood kids, is responsible for Mrs. Nebbercracker's mysterious disappearance. Any toy that touches Nebbercracker's property, promptly disappears, swallowed up by the cavernous house in which Horace lives. D.J. has seen it with his own eyes!
But no one believes him, not even his best friend, Chowder. What everyone does not know is D.J. is not imagining things. Everything he's seen is absolutely true and it's about to get much worse than anything D.J could have imagined....

This is a great movie, one that is perfect for a Halloween's nights viewing with the kids. (A warning to all 'pixel heads' out there though, the film has a digital grain filter applied to it, which makes it look more 'f'ilm like' - so avoid this one if you are just looking to just use it as a Bluray demo disc). If the Goonies meets Toy Story sounds like a good idea to you, then you are gonna love this!
not so good

i rented out monster house from my local rental shop just becuase i could have it free with two other blu ray rentals, and im very glad i did, as this was alot better movie than both of the together. although it is marketed as a kids movie, my personal opinion is that is a family film. sure, its only 90 minutes long, but after watching it, i am definately eager to watch it again and again. the film is no doubt amazing thanks to blu ray disc. though it is an animated film, i felt the characters never felt more alive, and had so much personalitly than they did on the dvd version, and the blu ray leaves little to be desired. a great movie with a good solid plot behind it, with likeable characters and great voices for them, monster house is one of the best computer animated childrens films in years.
