Polar Express 3D: Combo Pack (2 Discs Blu-ray & DVD) (W/Lenticular sleeve) (Blu-ray)

Anyone know if the Blu-ray disc will only be in 3D or will there also be a standard HD version?

This is a great film, which we (family) originally saw in 3D at an IMAX and bought the 2D version.

Unfortunately, we had a problem with the specs which are essentially 50's technology. Rather than the type of specs you now get at the cinema, there are 4 pairs of the old fashioned (red & Blue) specs. The 3D didn't work very well on all scenes and those it did were not that impressive. Also, the specs seemed to strip away the color, which detracted from the quality, of the film, to the extent that it makes no odds whether it's DVD or Blu-ray.

My recommendation would be to watch it in (ordinary) Blu-ray and avoid 3D until they improve the technology.

what a dissapointment the blue ray 3d is totally blured infact if you are going to try and watch the entire film in 3d get your paracetamol ready for the biggest headache of all time 2d version is great though and I would rate this version 4.5

This title does have the 3D and 2D versions in the box along with 4 pairs of 3D specs.

This movie was good on DVD - on BluRay it's tremendous. In this pack you get one of everything - a DVD version, a BluRay2D and a BluRay3D (both on the BDisk).

Now I watch on a big 3m wide screen (front projected) and like to invite round a few friends. I was particularly looking forward to seeing this on 3D. The glasses supplied with this movie really block the light and dim the image (and the Polar Express is a totally night-time picture!). It only partly worked and some scenes were fantastic, but some scenes were so dark and shadowy I did question whether it was worth the effort. Overall I think yes (particularly when things are running away!) , but whether it's worth me going out and buying another 12 pairs of Red/Cyan glasses, or letting my friends view the 2D version, I'm not sure.

The film itself is one of those classics that will come around every Christmas. A good story, good music, a suitable amount of Christmas magic, enough emotion to make you feel good, and a happy ending. Just right!
