 Films 10/10 Transfer 10/10

These movies may be decades old but in the tradition of a lot of Warner Bros classics being released on Blu ray the transfers are magnificent. Yes the earlier movies are a bit grainier than the later ones but lets not mistake this for a so called bad transfer. Film/Celluloid contains grain and its both unavoidable and inevitable especially in older movies such as these that it will occur. If anything its a measure of the sharpness of these movies that film grain is visible. You almost feel like your watching it projected on film. In fact the picture quality is so sharp on Dirty Harry you can even see dirt/hair on the lens in the opening scenes! Overall a great collection even though the middle one The Enforcer is probably the weakest but still a good flick. These are five great crime movies and its fun to watch Eastwood age over the course of twenty years. A great set.

For £15.99 you cant go wrong!

The first two films are awsome 1970s classics, the third is entertaining and the fourth and fifth are still as good as the third but a bit of a cash cow for the producers and Eastwood.

All Callahans one liners are movie history!

with classic films like the Dirty harry series, most people know what the films are about and therefore if like me if you are buying a film on blu-ray that you may already have on DVD you would prefer to know about the quality of the transfer. Firstly you can not dispute the value and the quality is better than DVD, but do not expect a miracle. The picture at times can be a bit grainy, and I don't think much remastering has gone on with the picture. These films were filmed on 70mm panavision so the quality is there to rediscover. As for the sound only true Dolby digital no DTS, and playing the DVD and BLU-RAY through the system at the same time its hard to tell the difference. All in all if you do not have the films this is still great value, if you have them its to be considered as its still a bit better. So to sum this up still great films Dirty harry being the best, however picture quality is just ok. Rating is based on the blu-ray transfer not the film itself.

CLINT EASTWOOD a true giant of our time, an 'iconic' actor and brilliant 'director'
sadly 'clint' has bowed out of acting 'gran torino' ( great-movie ) being his last, however he continues to 'direct' most recent release 'invictus' ( looking forward to that one )
many moons ago or so it seems we were watching 'clint' playing 'rowdy yates' in 'rawhide' second string to 'gill favour'
his career took off when he took the role of the gun-man without a name in the 'legendary' 'spagetti-westerns' going on to make a series of u.s. westerns in a similar role.
however as we all know in-between he played 'harry callahan' in the first 'dirty harry' movie which quite rightly launched him into 'super-stardom'
he's been gracing our screens ever since with some great role's, rarely did he dissapoint.
many if not most of his films are being re-released with an awful lot of 'blu-ray' presentations included, cost a bit to collect as many are being released over a short period ( it'll keep many of us entertained all over again as we watch the presentations on this format )
'dirty harry' ( harry callahan ) is a no-nonsense 'san francisco' cop who gets the job done-----his way.
this is a great series of movies well worth buying on this format, in truth as good as the follow-up's were, i think it would be fair to say none matched up to the first one 'DIRTY HARRY'
thanks for the memories 'CLINT'
