Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann star in this seriously funny film from writer-director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up). When famous comedian George Simmons (Sandler) is given a second chance at a new beginning, he and his assistant, a struggling comedian, Ira (Rogen), return to the places and people that matter most... including the stand-up spots that gave him his start and the girl that got away (Mann). Co-starring Jonah Hill, Eric Bana and Jason Schwartzman, it's the film that critics have hailed as uproariously funny.

This IS indeed a comedy, a very funny, smart and brilliant comedy! It has a slightly darker edge and a more serious edge to it though, its nothing like you have seen Adam Sandler or Seth Rogen do before but they still are top of their game at delivering some fantastic performances! The supporting cast is also great in this movie, Eric Bana was really good! The film deals with the characters in more of a serious situation dealing with serious issues, but as they are all the comedy line of work the film delivers some very good and well written humour and lots of laugh out load moments! if your a big fan of anyone in this movie then you will enjoy it for what it is, if your looking for a straight forward whacky comedy then you maybe put off, Sandler and Rogen pull off some great acting skills as usual and never fail to entertain! The extras on this disc are awesome too and you certainly get your moneys worth, along with the film running at two and a half hours you get about six hours of features including some really good early videos of Sandler doing stand-up comedy on TV. The picture quality is very good too. Worth checking out for sure!

For me Funny People falls into what I would call the Double Genre category as whilst it is primarily a comedy it is also mixed within an actually quite emotional film and very serious in parts. With Sandler putting in his best serious performance since Punch Drunk Love and the usual Apatow regulars hilarious as always you can't help but love this film. So why 4 stars then? As I find with all films of this kind the mixture of serious moments and comedy divides opinions. Some viewers may prefer their films to concentrate on a specefic genre as it tends to follow their expectations. It does have its lulls in places but makes up for them just in time to keep you hooked. Watch of for the scene in the bar with Eminem shouting abuse at Ray Romano when Rogan delivers the line that had me in stitches "Not everybody loves you"!
Overall another gem by Apatow, the comedy genius who can do nothing wrong.

 Great

While I agree that it has a serious undertone to it this is most definitely a comedy. I haven't had as many "laugh-out-loud" moments since I Love You, Man. To me, this is by far Apatows best film. A lot of heart, some genuinely touching moments and very funny aswell. This Blu-ray edition looks like it has got a lot of good extramaterial so I'll definitely be buying this, you should too.
