Touching, yet entertaining - Great viewing for all ages

A delightful, and at times moving animation (sure to bring a tear to one's eye). But it doesn't dwell for too long on the sentiment; once the scene is set, an action packed, humourous adventure unfolds.

It's a great family film, well animated and directed, with scenes and dialog perhaps many adults can relate to,

If you like Toy Story, you'll love this.

  Genius Pixar Movie

Do not listen to the previous review (The reviewer gives 5 stars to Scary Movie 4) if you have a heart this movie will touch it in a way few animations can , it is a touching , funny, brave film , it may make you weep but will make you laugh and feel joy...isn't that what all great films do?

The end of Disney as we know it

| | See all purpleone's reviews (12)

Do you remember the days when disney films used to be funny, entertaining and left you with a good feeling.Well those days have long gone with this latest film.If entertainment for you is watching a couple of people very much in love being heartbroken at not being able to have children. The husband watching his wife die whilst being hooked up to drips in her arm and finally distraught at her funeral then this is for you. The film continues with unfunny violence (remember when someone got hit on the head and they would see stars and a huge glowing lump would appear)well this has been replaced with a deep bloody gash.
The film is not at all funny and has a terrible wafer thin storyline...avoid at all cost.

  great value pack from disney

This combi pack from disney is fantastic value, you get bundled in the box a DVD copy of the film, the Blu Ray version and a copy to digitally download to your PSP/IPOD/Blackberry etc.

The film is laugh out loud funny and the adults loved this film too, I watched it with my Mum, partner and my children and the film swept the board from ages 5 to 65. It is beautifully animated, voice acted and the story was engaging and fantastic. There is a real warmth to all the characters and this film is a genuine classic from the house of mouse.

The highlight of the film though is it's ability to have adults laughing at different points to the kids as the humour although subtle is multi layered.

The extra's on the Blu Ray disc are bountiful and the sound and picture quality are 10/10 on both scores.

In all this film is perfect for a saturday night family film session and many repeat viewings and at the price it is fantastic value for money.

  the only way is 'UP'

as technology advances so does the 'disney/pixar' computer annimation process, the quality of the movie on this format is quite frankly 'awsome'
the story follows the fortunes of 'carl fredricksen' as he leaves behind the building site that surrounds his home, and sets off with his house along with 'russell' an 8 year-old who he finds hanging on to the flying house for dear-life,
many years before he'd promised his wife a trip to 'paradise falls' now although she was no longer around, this is where he intended to land to fulfill his wife's dream.
when the two arrived in the area of the falls they came accross a previously thought to be extinct bird, along with an adventurer 'carl' had admired as a child, who in turn had spent years trying to catch one of the rare birds that 'carl' and 'russell' had allmost immediatly be-friended ( chocolate has a way of attracting even the stangest of beings )
in true 'disney' tradition the film gives you a mixture of good anf bad character's, much humour tinged with an element of sadness, not to mention a bunch of 'talking' dogs.
it all adds up to a must-see movie ( currently at the cinema's but not available for 'region' 'b' blu-ray players yet ) however it's a film worth waiting for..........enjoy.

  UP. UP. And away...

Simply put, this film has one of the best opening sequences in the last 10 years of movie history.
It will drag you through a plethora of emotions and will stay put in your head loooong after you switch on the kettle the following morning.
It is a charming little film about following ones dreams and never giving up on them no matter what happens.

Pixar have made an extremely funny yet sad adventure for all ages.
Watch it regardless of what age you are.

  Truly a {MOVING} house

| | See all wenzissimu's reviews (2)

Hello all there. It's certainly been a long while since I've been moved by a picture, let alone an animated one!

Most of you already know that the first part of this superb 10th attempt by PIXAR is truly up there with the very best. And I do agree with what's been written about it: it is the best PIXAR sequence as yet. Am 31 years of age, during that part didn't feel like it...

I've also read about the 3D added to the film that robs attention from the story itself, I don't really see it that way, I just thought that 3D in general is still a long way to go. I don't like the dark colors that it produces. The funny specs are way to dark when watching a PIXAR film.

There are plenty of BEST FUNNY BITS, RUSSELL, all the MUTTS sequences, well you need to choose your fave.

However you choose to watch this film, even if its in Black and White (the opening is like that), you will be MOVED.
