I like Tennant as the Doctor and im quite able to let go and move on to another person in the role without feeling offense. RTD was a shoddy sci-fi writer at best and he slowly backed himself into a corner he couldnt escape from by constantly trying to be 'epic' so by the time it came to say bye he couldnt deliver. Ten was a good Doctor, a bit too weepy and weak compared to how i like my 900 year old aliens to be but he did good and Tennant is a great actor, shame then that his finale scene was pathetic to say the least, so the man who regenerated 9 times before suddenly starts weeping like a 4 year old with a skinned knee at the thought of it. looks great in Blu-ray but i wouldnt waste your money when normal DVD will surffice for these 'specials'
Oh and "What a load of Rubbish, flying fish, what next? flying pigs?" oh series one of your beloved RTD's involved a FLYING PIG IN A SPACE SHIP THAT HIT BIG BEN! not to be outdone he then brings out a flying Titanic to cruise over Buckingham Palace...Moffat over RTD every single time.

A let down for Tennant but must have

Doctor's 9 (Eccleston) and 10 (Tennant) have been the best in the new series that started in 2005. This series of specials was not as good as the 3 series David Tennant did beforehand. I think the regeneration was worse then some of the classic ones and I think it was Russel T Davies giving the leaving finger to the BBC. The regeneration from Eccleston to Tennant was awsome and you seen the change, same goes when the master changed into John Simm. But this regeneration from Tennant into Smith was lame. One second Tennant was standing there and then cut - instantly Smith is there. No changing process and odviously just a camera cut with the yellow added by CGI. They proved they could do great changing scenes in the regeneration process so why not this one. Looking at the series that followed with Matt Smith it is easy to see that we have lost the best Doctor Who writer of them all. Bye Bye David and Bye Bye Russel T Davis, Doctor who will never be as good without you two in it. I won't give my opinions of what I think of Moffets storylines except to say Doctor Who was axed before and it will be again. I sat through 'A Christmas Carol' on Christmas Day 2010 and thought "What a load of Rubbish, flying fish, what next? flying pigs?. Come on writers get your act together. If you can't bring back Tennant at least bring back Russel T Davis so we can get some decent storylines again.

Brilliant Xmas specials sandwiched by so-so adventures.

David Tennant's charisma has made the last few years of Doctor Who a fantastic viewing experience- even if, at times, the scripts, his co-stars and dubious plots have threatened to let him down.

Both the 2008 and 2009 Xmas specials here are brilliant, John Simm, Bernard Cribbins and David Morrisey are all exceptional. Elsewhere, Waters of Mars is a little dull and formulaic and Planet of the Dead was a CBBC rip-off of Pitch Black (In addition- who ever told Michelle Ryan she could act- she's terrible in everything)

 Bye David

David was so entertaining as the Doctor, so it is sad to see him go, but this DVD set is a perfect farewell to a special doctor who, and ends his role as the doctor on a sad note "I don't want to go", he was lovely and didn't want to change into postman pat.

I think the very last episode was done nicely where he meets all the people and aliens he encoutered during his travels as the doctor, was like a goodbye to everyone at the end and it was great how they explained why he really never went back to save the timelords, compltely satisfying epiisode (the final one).
Waters of mars was good, only weak episode was the next doctor episodebut it wasn't that bad either, I will be buying this on tuesday, I canlt wait to have this set.

This was one hell of a year for doctor who fans, a little slow as there was no full series but we have had some great stories in each of the episodes over 2009. The end of time was a fantastic feature length episode with a brilliant story, ending the series very well, David Tennant will surely be missed as he was a fine actor but from the look of things Matt Smith fits in quite well and should lead us into some quality new stories as the new born timelord! And from the looks of the trailer for next year even the Daleks set to return, I for one cant wait and will certainly be ordering this box set of the specials as must you!!
