From M. Night Shyamalan comes an action-packed fantasy adventure for the whole family. The fate of humanity rests in the hands of a young Avatar heir. He must risk everything to restore the balance of his war-torn world. With the power to control all the elements, he is The Last Airbender.

From the Director of Sixth Sense comes the highly anticipated live-action family adventure, The Last Airbender, based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon TV series.

Air, Water, Earth and Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation led by Prince Zuko (Dev Patel), launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.

I had heard of the animated series before but without seeing it was not able to judge how good the movie would be. Suffice to say i loved it! The characters are interesting, the effects were superb and i really hope they decide to continue with the franchise and create the second and third installments.

 dont listen to reviews

I can't remember a Director who showed so much promise with the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable and has then managed to committ career suicide. Take a look at his career nose dive. The Sith Sense...Brilliant, Unbreakable..... Excellent, Signs....Very Good, The Village....Average, Girl In The Water......Poor, The Happening..... Bad, and now this movie really does scrape the barrel.
This is a movie abount a bunch of Benders who fight it out for supreme Bender power. They even managed to make it in 3D to help disguise how poor the movie is, but even though at times the effects and sound are awesome, this makes the movie all the more frustrating, as it shows us what it could have been, if another Director had hold of the project.
This movie was predicted as the next Star Wars, but it does not even cut it as the next Battlefield Earth.
With some of the worst dialogue and acting seen in years.
I know the word "BENDER" translates different across the pond, but when the kid announces that he wants to become a Bender, I almost choked on my popcorn, and the sound of chuckles in the cinema echoed throughout the room. It should have been a comedy!
But the most shocking thing about this pathetic waste of money is that people will buy it because of the cartoons it's based on, and it's own built in fan base. Stick with the cartoons and avoid this, as it's the worst movie of the year.
As for Director M.Night Shyamalan I think he should choose a different career path, as if he turns out more big budget trash like this Direct to DVD will be his future!
See if you liked...
Battlefield Earth.
The Golden Child ( but the Golden Child was pretty good)
Big Trouble In Little China ( this was also pretty good)
Monkey.
Wasting your money.

What are they on about ???

I watched this with my 7 year old son who watches the TV series and I have to say I enjoyed it - its a typical action/fantasy adventure with a more interesting plotline than many. I really don't understand who some other reviewers have rated it so badly - I have seen an awful lot worse. So if you're into this sort of film then sit back and enjoy it !
