Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington and Ralph Fiennes star in the tale of Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, on a quest to best the gods and save mankind from the enslavement of Hades. Action maestro Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk") serves up giant monsters and jaw-dropping spectacle galore.

In Clash Of The Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, Perseus and his warriors will only survive if Perseus accepts his power as a god, defies fate and creates his own destiny.

 Epic Failure

It was from the moment when I first heard that they were remaking the Clash of the Titans that I became very excited at the concept and anticipated it, and looked very much forward to watching it. I felt that the original film was awesome, with an amazing storyline and I loved the special effects by Ray H. It was an exciting, atmospheric and enchanting adventure and I was absolutely mesmerised by it.

As a matter of fact, it was the original Clash of the Titans that really got me interested in Greek Mythology, and I've enjoyed reading about Greek Mythology ever since.

But my faith was lost and all my hopes were utterly dashed when I went and watched this new remake in 3D. This was something that I was really looking forward to watching and was praying that being in the hands of today's directors, they would deliver it justice, and even make it even better that the original. But that did not happen.

For instance, I felt that the acting was wooden. There was no emotion or excitement in the characters. Sam Worthington tried to give Perseus an arrogant, hard man, bad boy image, which I felt did not work as the original character was not supposed to be like that in the original story. I really think that Sam Worthington was a very bad choice for this role and was not suited to it at all. In a movie like 300/Troy perhaps he would have been in place, but in the new Clash of the Titans (and as the lead character Perseus??) definitely not.

Also in 3D, there was probably only 1 3D scene.

The storyline and the characters were different from the original, which was to be expected to some degree, but I felt that the film just did not capture the atmosphere, personality and excitement and magic from the first movie. There was just no humility there and I felt that this film did not pay homage to the original.

SPOILERS ALERT:

In the original movie, Zeus commands the Gods to bestow Perseus, his son, with weapons of "Divine Temper". And when these weapons are first found and tested by Perseus, we see their true godly powers and the feeling of confusion and excitement of when Perseus first finds and tries them. For example, in the original movie, after the sword is found, you see the astonishment and surprise on Perseus's face when it suddenly cuts through solid marble. In this remake however, you see no such thing. This time, not only is the arrogant Perseus not surprised or excited/bothered that he is the son of Zeus, God of the Gods, but cares very little for the divine celestial weapon that is imparted to him by Zeus. Instead he is instantly ready to discard as a mere trinket by giving it to his colleague.

I was also disappointed with the scene in which Pegasus, the mythical winged horse, makes his first appearance. In the original movie you see how Perseus hears about the mythical beast and lies in wait for it and eventually captures it and earns its trust. But this did not happen this time. This time Pegasus was just ready and waiting for him as a gift from the Gods I felt that that the Director just didn't want to put in more effort to make this into, what could have been a much better scene.

One of the scenes that I was looking forward to most of all was the scene with Medusa. But was very disappointed when watching it as Medusa did not look hideous and evil gorgon at all, as a matter of fact she was portrayed to be quite pretty.

In a nutshell, I no longer have faith in remakes and no longer feel excited at the remake concept. This film had so much potential. This could have been a masterpiece and an epic (like Lord of the Rings), however instead it was an epic failure.

Good: Impressive Special Effects, Liam Neeson as Zeus.

Bad: Everything Else.

The original movie is so old now its not even worth comparing it, this is a solid film and a great resurrection of a long lost classic, a fantastic tale of magic and monsters! The cast is solid with great performances from all, the visual effects are spot on and vastly epic throughout, the movie tips the scales on action compared to the original, and faithfully gives us our favourite monsters in all their new glory, especially the medusa who is now rather sexy, but deadly!! Certainly worth checking out, its big blockbuster popcorn fun with nothing to have to think about.

Dont expect a top notch movie

I'll say this now, only watch this film open minded and dont expect it to be some oscar worthy material.
I saw this at the cinemas after eagerly awaiting its release for a good 5month and I was utterly dissapointed due to having such high expectations.
I watched it for a 2nd time after getting the bluray for my birthday and I must say that I enjoyed it alot more knowing what was instore for me :)
The acting is good (Sam could have done alot better) and has a great lineup of cast which wont dissapoint. CGI is pretty sweet and the score isnt half bad either.
At this price you cant really go wrong so I suggest you buy and watch it, dont expect top stuff and you will enjoy it :)

 Avoid like plague...

Just utterly terrible. effects are poor, story terrible and acting is a joke.

Go and watch the original Clash of Titans its a far far better film than this remake.

Terrible Movie! So much mythology has been changed.

This movie is terrible. This is not an epic movie, at most it's a poorly written popcorn flick. Fans of epic, character and story driven movies, this is not for you. This is a movie for people who don't care about story, for people who just want to see action. The movie is based very loosely on Greek mythology and a lot of things were changed. For example in the mythology, the Kraken is NOT sent to kill Andromeda, a Cetus is . Also, Hades has a very small part in Perseus' story and the giant scorpions play no part of Perseus' story they're just there for extra action . Almost everything about this is bad, from the horrendous script to the lackluster special effects and action. This movie in every way deserves it average review score of 30%. I have not seen the original nor have any interest in doing so, but there is no way it's worse than this. The story is incredibly simple and despite the short run time, it still feels way too long for such a simple plot. I was looking forward to this movie way before any trailers were released and was, needless to say, sorely disappointed. I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre, but this is just bad. Luckily this copy is NOT in 3D which made the movie even worse. I saw the movie twice, once in 3D and once in 2D to give it a chance. The 3D effects made the movie even worse and again proves that a movie should never be converted into 3D during post-production. Films should be filmed in 3D like Avatar, or just not released in 3D. The cast does fairly well with the nonsensical script they have. This whole movie is incredibly soulless, lacking any charm. The character design is not too bad, but again the flaws in the mythology make this only enjoyable to those without any knowledge of Greek mythology.
