As a big fan of the Toy Story films, I have eagerly waited for the latest (and possibly last?) - Toy Story 3.
Decided to see the 2D version and pay less, because the 3D versions have not really impressed me that much to be honest. Nothing will be equivalent to Disney's 4D special effects cinemas (where you get the full experience - not only 3-D, but moving seats - say if you are watching a car on a bumpy road, wind or rain on your face, feeling ants running about your feet etc...)
The film did not disappoint, however I've got to say this film is a lot darker than the previous two Toy Story films (The 1st one still being my favourite). There were a few scary moments in the film (even for me!), so I would hesitate about taking young children. There was a little girl about 6yrs old next to me and she was terrified towards the end and ended up cuddled up to her mum. In the film, there are a couple of new characters in the kids daycare nursery who were rather scary too - Dolly and the Security Monkey. The Dolly reminded me of a doll from the horror film 'Child's Play', and the Security Monkey had scary eyes. Also Lotso the cuddly bear turned out to be a bully who had issues.
However on the brighter side, the story was full of comical moments (where the audience were in stitches!) which I won't go into (don't want to spoil it for you!) However I will say that Buzz turns out to be quite the Lothario...! And there is also a lot of suspense, especially towards the end. And tears all round when Andy leaves for College. Very cleverly done overall. Hats off to Disney - Pixar once again for another fantastic film.
