Featuring 15 minutes of extra footage, Robin Hood Extended Director's Cut is the definitive version of Ridley Scott's revisionist epic starring Russell Crowe. Full of spectacular action and top-notch acting, the fifth collaboration between Scott and Crowe really hits the target.

Outlaw. Warrior. Hero.

Discover the untold story of the man behind the legend as Robin, a heroic warrior, turns outlaw when he assembles a band of skilled marauders to confront injustice and lead an uprising against a weak and corrupt English King.

When the rebellious hero falls for the spirited Lady Marion (Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett), he must first save her village and then confront a growing storm of threats from near and afar if he is to win her heart. As Robin and his men answer a call to ever-greater adventure, these unlikely heroes set off to battle for their country and return England to glory... and ride into Legend.

Please let there be a sequal

Have just finished watching this movie on Blu-ray and can not praise it enough, okay it has decided to be a prequal but so what, you can argue all you want but there are several different versions of the story out there and always have been, first of all no one can confirm Robin existed, then different tales have different backgrounds and some didn't even have Marion or Friar Tuck, I for one loved this movie, the picture quality is amazing, if you have seen Gladiator and the much under rated Kingdom of Heaven you will already know that the battle scenes are in good hands, I liked the way Robin or Robert was on his return from the crusades and as was still part of the kings army fighting his way home, I liked the story and felt connected with the characters enough that when the film ended I wished there was a sequal to watch, this film leads upto and finishes at the point the other stories take over. Is this film worth buying YES I loved it and I hope you will also. will be recomending this to my family and friends.

 Brilliant New Perspective!!

Ignore some other reviews on here that arent helpful at all!! If they watched the whole thing they would understand.. that its the time before. It is a nice new perspective of the Robin Hood look and is set in the time before he became and how he became an outlaw.

This film was very good, the acting superb and Russel Crowe a complete gem.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, and would recommend it to anyone. Give it a go. I guarantee its worth your time!

 WOW.

I really enjoyed this film, so much. It took a bit to get into, but it is fantastic, the art direction, the score, even the acting was good. It's nice how it confuses you then wraps it up at the end. Definately worth a shot if you've ever loved Robin Hood, or as already said, Gladiator.

Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions.

Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe join forces once more to tell the story of one of England's most legendary figures before he became an outlaw. Don't expect to see Robin and his merry men as this movie couldn't be more different, and it's all the better for it. Crowe gives a superb performance as Robin (he's to be commended for a decent northern accent too, legend has it that Hood came from Yorkshire not Nottingham). Cate Blanchett is also fantastic as Marion who is certainly no slouch when the fighting gets underway. Special mention must also go to Mark Strong who puts in a fine performance as the principle bad guy of the story. If you want to see how Robin Longstride became the legendary Robin Hood then watch Scott's epic film you won't regret it.

To be honest, i wasn't to keen on this movie, but was dragged along.
Generally when this happens the movie turns out to be good, as the expectation is low.
Sadly not on this occassion. The film did not bring anything new to the Medieval War type of movie genre.
Pretty Run of the Mill Summer Blockbuster, well made, well directed with Solid Central performances by
Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
The always awesome Mark Strong was completly wasted though.
