Maybe it's just my equipment but the sound is out of sync with the picture. Anyone else had this problem? Got a bit irritating after a few songs so I can't comment on the whole gig. Looks great though.
...yeah mine is the same....dont think its your equipment....sound and picture are out of sync....is quite annoying!! Although as you say looks amazing!
the sync problems.
Fact is they are there on all players. If you cant see them that doesnt surprise me as they are only slight and as explained very well by another user below only really kick in on the drums. Four friends have this we all have differing makes of Blu Ray and all have the sync issue. This really should not happen in this day and age.
The picture is the best Ive seen on Blu Ray and the sound courtesy of a rock hard STEREO soundtrack is great.
To sum up there are sync issues but it should not stop you buying this Blu Ray and totally loving it.
The setlist is great, so is the performance. But this release looks and feels like like the best Metallica bootleg ever.
First of all, I start off my subtracting half a star from the rating because of their official site's false announcement of a digipack release - only a jewelcase version came out but many people pre-ordered believing that they were to receive a lavish digipack.
Secondly, the image is in no case demo disk material in terms of quality. I'd characterize it 1080i, not 1080p, some digital artifacts are visible throughout the length of the feature.
Thirdly, the stage production is very very poor, just a lights rig on a bare stage, and half of the concert takes place before dark fall over Paris. Looks more like a Grave Digger release than a Metallica release in terms of stage production. So, even if this was the perfect BluRay video, one wouldn't have much to look at...
I only recently developed a liking for Metallica and heavy metal, and this BluRay is exactly what I was hoping to hear from such a band. They can still put on an incredible show; how Lars manages to double-pedal his way through Dyers Eve towards the end of the gig with that much energy is beyond my comprehension. My favourite track is Harvester of Sorrow because the main riff is played to a remarkably heavy effect.
Perhaps as notable as the performance is the production quality, which I was dubious about after Death Magnetic sounded so appalling. This DTS HD Master Audio soundtrack never fails to impress, and neither does the 1080p video, giving highlight to the spectacular venue and Hetfield's tattoos.
If you like metal, you probably have this already. If you want to show off your TV and sound system, buy it now.
