There are four kinds of alien encounters. The fourth kind is abduction.

In remote Alaska, citizens have been mysteriously vanishing since the 1960s. Despite multiple investigations, the truth behind the phenomena had never been discovered - until now.

While video taping therapy sessions with traumatised patients, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) unwittingly exposes terrifying revelations of multiple victims whose claims of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details.

Based on actual case studies, The Fourth Kind uses Dr. Tyler's never-before-seen archival footage alongside dramatic reenactments to present the most disturbing evidence everdocumented in this provocative thriller critics are calling terrifyingly real.

On the first day I saw the trailer I was chilled vto the bone in a way that I haven't been in a long time. I was excited to see the film and went on the first day of release and was not dissapointed. Upon viewing the truth had not being revbealed and watching the fourth kind was a tense, jumpy experience. Providing jumps, genuine scares and intrest in equal amounts. The clever construction of real footage, recordings and information next to the dramatisation was a great idea that paid off well. The acting was surprisingly beliveable and the characters, though a little simple, were engaging enough for the easy to follow but well built narrative. However upon finding the truth it is crushingly dissapointing and the film becomes a 3 star one. Do yourself a favour and do not research or read any reviews going into this film because The Fourth Kind is most effective when it is ambiguous to you.

well....the film portray's actual events that were alledged to have happened in an alaskan town during '2000'
it uses actual footage of interviews and of sessions with the victims when under hypnosis.
the main character is played by 'milla jovoich' often in parallel with the main subject of the films story-line.
i have to say the film leaves you with many more questions than answers and many of the scenes are truly alarming.
at the end of the day it does come down to what you believe, there have without doubt been so many things down the years that just can't be explained.
i believe that we would be pretty arrogant to think that among all those millions of stars and planets even within our own galaxy there is no intelligent life elsewhere, wether lesser or far mor advanced than ourselves.
who's to say that throughout the planets being, that we have or have not been visited ?
seriously...the film is worth a spin.

Finally a scary film... its been too long

At the beginning you are told by Milla Jovovich that "Some of the scenes you are about to see you may find highly disturbing." Lets just say dont take it likely as this movie has a few of the creepiest scenes ive seen in a movie to date, mainly when the movie cuts to archive footage. The first movie in at least a few years to have a lasting impression for the night after i watched it at the cinema... followed by a powercut at 3am which wasnt much fun

Anyway if you believe, are open minded or just love a good scare then this movie is definately for you and in my opinion a better scare than the highly rated Paranormal Activity (although this was also quite freeky)

Enjoy the movie!

 a decent show

mixing what supposedly is real footage with acting footage to bring the story of a women desperate to know what is going in in the town , does it make you believe in alien life form ?? no not for me , is it a good movie ? yes its a one time watch tho !.

 A Clever film

A really good watch, very disturbing in places, a few really good jumpy moments! A film I am happy to have in my collection.
