The one good thing about this film is the setting. This however, is stolen in its entirety from the video game Fallout 3.

The rest I'm afraid is a thinly veiled attempt to force religious messages down the audiences throat using the odd stylish action scene as cover.

It then follows this up with one of the worst handled plot twists I have ever seen. Almost as if it was an afterthought, added in when they realised the rest of the movie had nothing to offer.

So if you want something post apocalyptic watch the Road and leave this nonsense well alone.

Not Bad but a bit disapointing

Was really looking forward to this film but a bit too religious for me.

  Excellent!

I saw this film at the flicks and loved it so couldn't wait for the Blu Ray. I pre-ordered it and received it on the day it was released some how! Cant complain, thanks Play!

Anyway for those Blu Ray fans out there I won't go on about the film itself, I'll assume you've seen it already. The quality is excellent though, both picture and sound. I have to admit I got ito Blu Ray more for the picture quality but the sounds continues to impress me every time!

Whether this is a good film or not is subjective (it is good though!) however you won't be disappointed by the picture and sound.

  Great Film

OK it may have a rather depressing setting but it is carried off in such a beautiful style. This is also a definite must for any fallout fans. The story is enthralling and the acting throughout is great. The ending is good and there is a good twist. I saw this in the cinema and the time flew by, it's one of those films that just draws you in! I would and have, recommend this film to anyone!

  The Book of Eli

Definately has the post apocolyptic 'postman' 'Fallout' and 'Mad-Max' vibe, from the scenery to the characters and the situations presented on-screen. The combat sequences are so well choreagraphed and fast that they take your breath away.

Then there's the plot/storyline....I wont go into any detail but there's the 'sixth-sense' twist that spins your opinion on it's head and makes you want to watch the film from the start again. Those reviewers that didnt like the film obviously missed the twist....

Are your hands shaking yet?.......(stop biting your nails...)

An awful film with the odd good fight scene

| | See all BrayTrade's reviews (2)

The good : The fight scenes.

The bad and the ugly : Most everything else.

'The Book of Eli' has it's moment but and is - at times - a visual treat but there is zero character development for Denzil Washingtons character. I have no idea why he signed up for this. Presumably Mrs. Washington needed some more new shoes.

At times it feels like you're watching a video game that drove staright into a comic. But that gimmick wears thin and what you're left with is a very weak plot that has been done before and better. Check out 'The Road' if post-apocolyptic nightmare visions of the future are your bag.

  Fallout/mad max

I love fallout and mad max, in fact I love most post apocalyptic films/games. This film is defo going up as one of my fav's. It felt like a story right out of fallout and has a mad max feel to some of the action. Well worth a watch.

  hmmm

I have mixed feelings about this film, i think its quite a good movie and definetly worth a watch.

Although there are some tense moments in the film along with decent action scenes, there's just not enough for me.

I do think its good enough to add to your collection and its also very enjoyable but its not gonna stand out once you have seen it.

Denzil Washington is my fave actor over the last 10 years and im always gonna buy his movies. This film isn't as good as some of his previous stuff but its very enjoyable and I can certainly see why it divides opinion.

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, the first thing I thought off was.... "Dude, Denzel in a Fallout-ish-movie? I'm in... I'm Sooooo in!"
Watched the movie, loved every minute of it... awesome!

Ordered it today and can't wait to pick it outta my mailbox!

  Why Oh Why

I read the pre hype and was taken in - my first mistake. I watched the movie - second mistake. Denzil Washington is without doubt one of the finest actors of his generation - why oh why did he sign up for this film? Sorry not often (recently) has he done a 'bummer' but this is one big time.
