A husband and wife in a small Midwestern town find themselves battling for survival as their friends and family descend into madness in The Crazies. A mysterious toxin in the water supply turns everyone exposed to it into mindless killers and the authorities leave the uninfected to their certain doom in this terrifying reinvention of the George Romero horror classic.

Directed by Breck Eisner (Sahara), The Crazies is written by Ray Wright (Pulse, Case 39) and Scott Kosar (The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The American Dream goes horribly wrong when the residents of this picture-perfect town begin to succumb to an uncontrollable urge for violence and the horrific bloodshed escalates into anarchy. In an attempt to contain the epidemic, the military uses deadly force to close off access into or out of town, abandoning the few healthy citizens to the growing mayhem as depraved killers lurk in the shadows.

Sheriff David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant); his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Dutton's deputy and right-hand man, find themselves trapped in a once idyllic town they can no longer recognize. Unable to trust former neighbors and friends, deserted by the authorities and terrified of contracting the illness themselves, they are forced to band together in a nightmarish struggle for survival.

You dont need to have seen the original to enjoy this movie, just go into it as a new and an original horror thriller! The story is really good and keeps you thinking all the time whats going on? it starts to turn really nasty for a small town of people and they mysteriously start killing each other off. The movie ends with a nice twist once you think youve figured it out! Good bloody entertainment, if your a hardcore horror fan than you may not find it that great but its still worth a watch as its good fun, great cast and entertaining.

 Excellent and exciting horror thriller

Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell give this film great heart as the convincing town sheriff and town doctor husband and wife at the centre of the tale. The film's writing is excellent - it's a great and refreshing change to have characters so bright that they immediately put 2 and 2 together when the phone, internet and mobile netyworks all go down, instead of wandering around dumbly trying to get a signal. The sickness of the 'Crazies' is effective and chilling, and the cold-blooded efficient panic of the military and scientists in their response makes it even more frightening. I haven't seen the original, but this film kept me on the edge of my seat for it's duration. It's a superb horror thriller, done exceptionally well. The actors and slick direction elevate this into a fantastic movie. However, avoid the trailer, as ayone who's seen enough of this type of film will know as I did, that they've given away a major twist at the ending.

REMAKE # 35478
Before anybody starts to think that this is just another run of the mill remake/ re-think because Hollywood has run of ideas, think again!
The Crazies is a brilliantly realised update of the old George.A.Romero shocker about a small American town that gets it's water supply infected by a chemcal weapon spill, leading to the normal friendly town folk tuning in psychotic maniacs. It's left up to the Towns Sheffiff ( Timothy Olyphant ) and his pregnant doctor wife (Radha Mitchell) to try and escape the bedlam, but they soon find out it's not just the homicidal towns folk to fear, it's also the U.S. Armed forces as they will stop at nothing to wipe the infection...and the town from the map!.
This is a top class thriller, with plenty of jumps and jolts throughout it's slick running time. The Crazies is one of the better remakes that shows how remakes should be done.
The Blue Ray quality is great showing every bloody pulsing vein on the infected face.
If you like Virus / Zombie movies then you'd be crazy to miss it!
See if you liked.

In a world gone mad by remakes that shouldn't be, someone gets it right. Building on Romeros original we have a taught, scary movie that balances fear and violence perfectly, delivering both. Well structired thriller that serves up the expected goods as well as a few unexpected ones. Intelligent, scary and thrilling movie essential.
