Picture quality really lets it down

This is a good film, but the picture quality at times is horrible. I nearly turned it off cause it was that bad. There are some lovely looking scenes that look amazing but the consistancy for the whole film just isn't there. Could have been 5 stars if they could be bothered. Shame.

 Humans hide in the shadows

Interesting reversal in the vampire genre, in that the vampires rule the world and the humans hide in the shadows, hunted and used for food. Ethan Hawke is good as a conflicted vampire unsure of his role in a company that sells human blood for profit. sam Neill, always excellent, as the shadowy company president. Plus a great turn from Willem Dafoe as a gun toting rebel. The only niggle is we didn't see enough exploration of this vampire run planet. 7/10

The only thing wrong with the film it was not Long enough only 1 hour 38 mins, so good It went to fast, I did not know what I ordered at first as I was just looking for a few cheap films as sky is so pricey we get the cheap films instead, well I did not know how good this would be,
I nearly did not get it as the Vampire movie I thought had done its inning for me use to watch them all the time but this film was so far more Great hoping for the next but they are talking about a prequel which I have only ever found one that worked that was ,Hannibal Rising silance of the Lambs.
Anyhow we will see. Tony GO and Buy it.

 not a classic

Not a bad film for vampire lovers which i am. But i thought the story behind it was poor, the world is ruled by vampires and there shortage of food is killing them ie humans. The cast for this film isnt bad but not a fan of Ethan Hawk dont think he pulled a vampire off very at all. Sam Neil and William Defoe are very good as a head vampire and vampire now turned back into a human. Loads of blood and gore along the way which is good because most vampire films do lack this. Give it ago and see what you think it might just be me.

 Excellent

I bought this without reading any reviews and was very surpised by the great casting and story. It is not by any means the best vampire film ever made but stands on it own feet. A good watch. Picture and sound crystal clear 10/10

excellent twist on the vampire myth and thankfully a million miles away from anything twilight, true blood or any other tame vampire 'romantic' depictions. Love the angle of choice within the vampires and the differant stages that occur dependent on their blood lust.
Watched it last night, definently worth checking out.

Lots of fun in a futuristic vamp-flick

In a nice twist, the film commences in a world where humans are the rarity, and vampires rule the earth, with nice elements like a subway for walking in daylight, and cars modified for shielding them from the sun. Unfortunately for them, they've fed too much on the humans and if a blood substitute isn't found they'll starve. That's the beginning, and the rest of the film makes great mileage out of Sam Neill's ghoulish corporation head, and Ethan Hawke's teetotal scientist. There are few surprises in the characters' roles, but they're played with more than usual conviction, and some of the fight scenes are truly standout, including an unusually inventive car chase, and a great final battle. Gorehounds might be slightly disappointed - there's almost no gore, until a peculiar tonal shift near the climax when the directors decide to absolutely soak us in the stuff, which is surprisingly effective because of the sparseness that's gone before. While the ending hints at a possible sequel, I didn't mind. If you enjoyed Blade and Resident Evil, you're likely to enjoy this.

 "unseen edition" is a lie!

saw Daybreakers in the cinema and it was great, cool story etc. thought it would be good to see the "unseen edition" and it turns out to be the same as the one in the cinema. so if your looking for something new or extra forget it, save your money.

 Enjoyed This

I had not heard very about this film before I watched it.
A really nice take on the Vampire Story.
This time Humans are all but extinct with Vamps ruling the world (although going about their lifes as humans would just at night!)
Some nice effects and interesting plot.
Well worth a watch
