I cannot think of a better nostalgic trilogy than these. The fact that the whole concept centres around time travel makes them seem all the more perfect.
The BTTF trilogy is as near to perfection (part 2 aside) as you can get. It ticks all the boxes, casting perfect, script perfect, direction perfect. It's well paced and very funny.
Michael J Fox is made for the role of hero Marty McFly and you cannot imagine anyone else playing the part. Eric Stoltz had filmed many hours in the role until he was cruelly but rightly chopped.
At least you can be assured that no more will be made so in buying this trilogy it will remain as one, unlike Indiana Jones for example.
Some people may class these as guilty pleasures but what's to feel guilty about, they're very well made and can be rightly proclaimed as classics. Parts 1 and 3 are without doubt the best of the three but that's not to say that part 2 is terrible it just falters under the brilliance of the others, much like the Godfather 3.
The extra's are brilliant too with some extremely comprehensive documentaries. Some but not all the extras are in 1080p as well.
If you have young children I guarantee that they will love these movies.
As for the transfers.........................................
Universal have granted all 3 movies with a VC-1 encoded, 1080p, 1.85:1 framed transfer each on a 50GB Blu-ray disc of fantastic quality.
The aspect ratio has been properly corrected from the previous DVD release and you can be assured that these films have never looked better.
Part 1 is the weakest with some slight moments of shimmer and haloing but this is very infrequent and never really a problem. The colour contrast is a huge leap from previous releases with natural skin tones. The grain is fine and is never obtrusive, I for one am pleased to see that no digital grain removal has been utilised so the detail is very impressive although detail is noticeably improved on 2 and 3.
Parts 2 and 3 are a big improvement on the first with fantastic detail. Delineation in the blacks and shadows is very well presented with little to no crushing evident. I did not detect any edge enhancement with any of the discs nor did I suffer any compression issues.
All in all a fantastic purchase especially at the price on offer compared to if you purchased them individually. Personally I cannot think why anyone would buy these separately.
Click "BUY" and in the future they will arrive.
