Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother...and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.

Lawrence Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.

As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself...one he never imagined existed.

This is a very cool tale of horror in the form of the classic style werewolf, half man half savage beast! The visual effects in this movie are very good and the wolf man makeup is fantastic, very scary! The movie has some great gore to go along with it, people being torn apart all over the place! The cast is very good especially Hugo Weaving who is spot on with his dialogue as always!! If you like a good werewolf movie then you should certainly check it out, its a classic modern version of a film that feels like it was made during that period! Certainly a step up from the cheesy black and white version, not that anybody remembers it!!

Great remake of an old classic

Being a huge fan of both old and new horror movies it is rare to see a remake of a classic live up to or exceed expectations set by the original movie. This movie is one of the exceptions. The main characters are well cast with Del Toro playing the tragic Laurence Talbot to perfection. The atmosphere portayed in the black and white original has been recreated extremely well adding a modern feel to the film. The howlling from the wolfman is sure to send a shiver down anybodys spine. The original story has been broadly used with some changes made to suit modern audiences. I would highly recommend this movie a a great addition to your blu ray collection. For Horror fans it is a must.

Awsome except for 1 small problem!

This really is brilliant the actors all do a brilliant job however hugo weaving does not get enough screen time, the action in most parts of the film is spectacular except however in the cinema version of the film we are not given enough time to get to know and care about the characters as we are pulled straight into the action so this lets it down slightly however the blu-ray is going to be an extended cut so we will have these drama scenes put back in which is about 20mins worth at the beginning of the film which should make this film 5 star! so to sum up del toro is 5 star the extended cut will make the film 5 star loved the cinema version as well to be fair!

 OUTSTANDING

I am a huge fan of horror movies especially werewolf films and grew up watching the original wolfman. This film is a great update on the original. I would say most of the CGI is used on backgrounds. The makeup effects are stunning and the cast line up brilliant. Both Del Toro and Hopkins are well cast for the role. Although not too scary i did jump atleast four times but I had the sound up loud with headphones and watched alone in the dark, BRILLIANT. This film is worth buying.
