This is by far the best Marvel comic book film of the year, a fantastic movement from comic to screen, Chris Evans is pretty perfect in the lead role and brings allot to the character, Hugo weaving is absolutely brilliant as the villain red skull making him the most awesome villain in movies 2011 hands down!! The story is clever and the ending is very set up for the forth coming Avengers in 2012. And the special effects are very good too, red skulls make-up is fantastic! This stands out much more than any marvel film ever made probably because its more real and down to earth. A must see for any comic fan!!
the film was refreshing, after the 'green lantern' movie which in truth was just average, i did think, do we need another ''hero''
well, it's a 'yeh'
great action, great 'c.g.i ' a whole load of fun that will hold your attention throughout.
the plot ? ----a weak guy who like his brother wants to join in the fight against the 'nazi's' is transformed into a fearless 'hero'
not gonna spoil it, great to see 'tommy lee' playing a significant role, the film itself is 100% worth a spin.
Set back in the day where you go anywhere on the planet and announce you were American and proud and not be laughed at, assasinated or taken hostage!
Captain America The First Avenger is the film that is to set the final foundation for the forth coming Avengers movie.
The biggest problem with this movie is not to turn it into a flag wearer into a flag waver and to be honest this mission is a succuss.
The fim start with a super skinny Chris Evens who they have somehow made look like a skinny version of Gollum, but the character Steve Rogers is so patriotic of his country is devestated no being able to fight for the in WWII. Until he is brought into the secret project of making a super soldier that makes him ultra-buff and Captain America is born. The film plays it very clever as the original comic book character was designed as a propoganda tool for America much the same way Superman was during WWII, and Rodgers being dishearted by all this decides to fight the Nazi war machine. Credit also to include Tony Starks (Ironman) Dad's involvment into the project and the odd nod to Thor. The scene stealer is Hugo Weaving as the evil Red Skull, who is just like the old comic book bad guys as he has no reason or back story to his evilness , he just is and wants to see the world burn.
The action is brilliant, but a little uneven in paceing, but you forget all this once Captian Amarica chins a bad guy with his shield, you just end up wanting one. Evens is a great lead and tones down the brash of his earlier Marvel incarnation in the Fantastic Four. Credit for the direction by Joe Johnson as the film has a great sense of fun, but does make an impact in the action that does feel like it's straight out of the first three Raiders movies. The 40's setting is also perfectly captured and all leads up to a pull out all the stops finale and then quietns down for a clever we judged farewell.
Of course, Cap's fate is already decided and like Thor, Ironman and co, he'll return in Summer 2012's The Avengers.
Captain America tackles the Marvel Movie mash up ( The Avengers) without tripping over too many signpost's, though the reference to Odin does serve as a reminder that Captain America is great but does not quite to mange to hit the nail on the head aswell as Thor.
The final piece of the Avengers falls well into place, great acting, some brilliant bouts of action but a few too many "we're all heroes inside" comments, but it's no star spangled sick bag either.
Brilliant comic book fun!

Really enjoyed this film, wanted to get it as I hadnt seen it at the cinema. I wasnt disappointed. Ok, its not Batman Begins but its well worth a viewing.
Chris Evans does a fine job of Captain America. Actually I was very impressed with his portayal of the main man. The Red Skull/Hugo Weaving really steals the show with his acting though. Excellent!
A good story and an interesting tie up with Stark and the future Avengers movie to come out. The only small detail is that it kinda ended quickly by zapping Capn and you(the viewer) into the present day after Cap's suspended sleep.
I would have like to see a nice ending to his blossoming romance with the English rose but thats just the romantic in me!
A great film and bang on as far as story and acting goes. Well worth your money of your a fan.
