The science-fiction thriller Minority Report, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, is based on a short story by renowned writer Philip K. Dick.

In the year 2054, in Washington, D.C., murder has been eliminated thanks to Precrime, a program that uses the visions of three psychics, called Pre-Cogs (an abbreviation for precognitive thinkers), to arrest and imprison would-be murderers before they have a chance to kill. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a Precrime enforcer who believes in the system for his own personal reasons--years back his young son was abducted, and he has dealt with the loss by becoming a high-strung Precrime officer. The director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) is eager to take the program national, and feels threatened by an ambitious federal agent (Colin Farrell) who is bent on finding a flaw in the system. When Anderton finds himself accused of the future murder of a man he's never met, his faith in Precrime is instantly shaken. He goes on the run, and is trailed by the relentless Precrime police.

In the tradition of Blade Runner (also based on a Dick story), Minority Report is a dark, brooding vision of the future. Spielberg expertly mixes thrilling chase and suspense sequences (the best of which involves Anderton being pursued by eye-scanning mechanical spiders) and stunning special effects with a challenging look at society's willingness to sacrifice privacy and the notion of free will for convenience and security. Minority Report is a thought-provoking and exciting film that ranks with Spielberg's best.

 VERY favourable report

One of Spielberg's most fascinating latter-day efforts, this is actually a deeply philosophical tale of predestination versus free will, dressed up as an action spectacular set in 2045. That's when Washington is murder-free thanks to a Pre-Crime unit that gets its information from 3 pre-cognitives, thus enabling them to arrest murderers before they commit the crime. Everything kicks off when the leader of the unit finds himself earmarked for a murder he's yet to commit. Spielberg's vision of several years ahead is bleak indeed, but he still knows how to rattle off a pumpingly good story, aided by a game-on cast.

Fantastic sci-fi film with a adrenaline charged storyline! Stunning visual effects with some great acting from Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell. Pre-crime is the new way to catch criminals which in a nut shell is three gifted people who can predict a murder before it happens. And when Cruise's name pops out the adventure begins. Blu-ray really shows its true gifts in this film with great sound and crystal clear visuals. Bargin price for a stunning film a must have.

 Looks good,sounds even better

This is a good upgrade to Blu ray,the picture is a bit grainy at times but this just seems to add to the picture, overall very good and the sound is even better.

Minority Report (2002) is a sci-fi thriller based on a Phillip K Dick story. The cast includes Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Max von Sydow.

This movie is very entertaining while also offering a smart story and a pretty realistic possible future. Tom Cruise is very good in his action hero mode while also giving a believable performance as a bereaved father.

Director Steven Spielberg delivers some great action sequences and this movie feels like his most exciting and fun since his old Indiana Jones movies. Minority Report is very entertaining and intelligent sci-fi.

 Good transition to Blu-Ray

4 stars for Blu-Ray transfer rather than film. It's one of my favourites as I'm a BIG Cruise fan & was impressed with the quality on this film. I found the only let down was the dated special effects, but sound quality is brilliant.
